need hard springs IMPORTANT

i gt an e30 which is lowered form the back 40 mm and standard from the front. the thing is i gt a infinity lip spoiler on the front and when i go over speed bumps the front end hits the floor and i still wanted to get the front lowered

. could these be due to the standard springs be soft so that when they go over a spedd bump the force the car down. so do u think that if i get it lowered at the front with some hard springs i can have the car lookin mean and the lip spoiler form not breaking???????????? any suggestions?????

I'd go with a standard IS lip (looks nice and low if that's your bag) and use the suspension for suspending. Oh, and post up a pic of your current setup.

doesn't the spoiler hit the hump before the wheel starts to go up over the hump?

In your case springs won't have any effect, as has been said the lip is infront of the wheels so hits the speedbump before the suspension can lift the nose of the car.

I think he means when the front has gone over the hump and the tyres go back onto normal ground the car drops and the lip hits the floor?
and so with harder springs there wont be as much suspension travel hence the car dropping slightly and the lip not hitting the ground

It's pssible but on normal roads that would make the ride a little harsh, one of the things i like about mine is the way it just takes all roads in its stride with no fuss, but still lets you know whats going on.

What dampers have you got? Higher rate dampers will stop the car 'dropping' so much off of bumps

sounds like he wants to slow down going over speed bumps! His suspension is obviously absorbing the hump as opposed to riding over it due to speed, never have I had problems with a front splitter and speed bumps unless I have hit them a bit quick

same here but i dont know how much lower his infinity lip spoiler is compared to my tech2 on a -60 drop. ive no idea what an onfinity lip spoiler looks like.

infinity thing is a little deeper than an is lip but not a massive amount looks bloody aweful too but each to their own!
I'd say yours at 60mm is lower

Haha I love the way you (Fuzzy) and Bob_S are having your own converstion about what he has fitted/how he is driving without Bav actually saying anything about it!! Conclusions then?

he says in his first post that his front suspension is standard.the clues are there were just adding 2 and 2 together.

Yeah but whenever I add 2 & 2 together I end with all sorts of different answers (bloody women) Anyway just made me chuckle with the conclusions drawn that it must be his driving!!

keep going though it makes an interesting read.... Maybe he's 24 stone or something or has a really huge girlfriend (no offence bav- just joking)

na, i reckon if he was a 24 stoner and had a fat chick the front spoiler would be dragging along the ground all the time and not just when he hit a speed bump so its got to be his possibly fooked standard suspension mixed with his over enthusiastic driving

Yeah but he did say only the rear was lowered 40mm- surely that would mean the front end should actually be slightly higher than standard? Unless you were carrying some serious chub with you?

or your standard suspension is totally w*nkered?

the reiger infinity lip spoiler looks much better than the is lip spoilers thank u very much. and it is once i have gone over the speed bump and am coming bak down it hits the floor. and is not due to me driving fast as i go over them slow as possible sometimes and it still hits. can anyone reccommend some good hard lowering springs?? and im not 24 stone suchy im only 11 stone and 17 years old mate! if your not 24 stone or drive to fast then theres no other reason to hit speed bumps with standard height front suspension other than your current set up is fooked. get new shocks and springs. even replacement standard are better than fooked ones or uprate to lower and stiffer. the choice is yours with numerous different set ups available to suit most budgets.

Just get some standard springs front and back. At 17 you really don't want to be having to declare mods to the insurers.

If the insurance company had it there way we would have to declare it everytime we put a bloody magic tree round the wing mirror mate. so i wouldnt give them the excuse of not declaring a very, very obvious mod because if you stuff it into someones front garden at 2 in the morning (which at seventeen is pretty likely and i should know, im 20) then they will tell you that because you didnt declare yours mods they have no obligation to pay out, then you will be left to deal with it however the courts decide is neccessary.
i have a 60mm drop on koni dampers (pretty stiff) and on 16s so my car is reasonably low with an SE lip and the only time my car hits the floor over speed bumps on way back down is if i drive over them too fast. so the lads are right, drive slower and make sure your dampers are up to scratch.

4 koni adjustables with springs would probably be about £400 as a rough guess. a spax adjustable kit was £350 a couple of years ago.

say i just bought the springs will this prevent the car from bouncong so much or will i definitly need to get uprated dampers to?
