I spotted this on ebay

I'm thinking for £100 with a 5 year warranty it may be a good deal, anybody tried one of these??

you get what you pay for ..this is a good US manufacturer

http://www.worlduph.com/bmwtops.htm#E30

but there should not be any difference in the top apart from manual/electric

he only difference as far as I know is there is a tube ?pocket over the drivers head in the electric one for a long piece of wire to go through which I think keeps the material attached to the tensioner straps

part no 33

Just wondering what "vinyl sailcloth" is ....
Certainly not something I have heard of before ... and not sonnenland cloth like it should be.

Maybe worth a mail to the seller asking for a definition of the cloth .....

G

PS ... I am looking for a new roof now. Have found a guy here in Denmark who can install a new roof for about 500 quid.

Why not ask for a sample of the cloth ...most of the manufacturers here will send you one
and £500 is about what yu would pay here....

I have actually sent a mail to them asking for their definition of the cloth.
I will report back when I receive a reply.
And their feedback for E30 tops does look good - there can't be that many muppets that can't tell the difference between canvas and vinyl !!

Don't see it being the best material but my car lives in the garage when it's not being used and it's not my every day car, was thinking about the next one up in his range and then fitting it myself, alternatively I've got to make a plan to get down to that chap in Wales and I have to see the electric roof motor repair guy near birminghamto have my main motor fixed

Got the reply ... he says it's vinyl.
He says canvas are also available in his shop. He doesn't sell the new front seal either.

Just checking his shop ...
Vinyl is 200 bucks
Canvas is 285 bucks
German quality canvas is 345 bucks
