Huh? What are you talking about?
How does a open diff vs a lsd have any bearing as to what position his wheels are to the ground?

Don't talk about what you dont understand.

Sorry to hear about your accident. If it's an accident black spot, I wouldn't be looking to blame an individual detail. Thank fook you're all ok. Take her indoors out for a nice meal and a spa day or something lavish.

As I have lots of posts, I'm going to add my opinion, it will be valued on the basis of aforementioned seniority.

Inclement conditions: Wet, greasy roads.

Accident blackspot?: Clearly a fast corner, perhaps a hidden cambre or other contributing factors.

Not great tyres: No dependability on driving limits.

Driver error: Long white lines means don't fooking overtake, it's not safe. Dual whites means if the coppers catch you, you get a few gold stars on your licence and your wallet gets lightened. I'm thinking lift off oversteer here. Hard past traffic into a corner, power off during turn in, weight goes forward, rear lifts, three wheel motion achieved.

That's my professional opinion as a seasoned poster who's knowledge clearly increases, along with standing and respectability with every post.

Respect mah authoritah!!!!

Actually that makes perfect sense!

A car was coming from the other direction (a little way off to really worry about) and I suspect I lifted of a little too sharply.

Normally an affliction of the front wheel drive brotherhood. the same physics still apply in this situation. and possibly with better tyres you could have pulled off the "tripod" and just looked like a nutcase with out any other problems. im guilty of buying terrible tyres aswell and i promise you i wont be doing it again!

Sorry to read about your crash, Gwyn...

Was it anywhere near me? Looks like one of the major roads so are we talking Dolwyddelan? Or perhaps somewhere near Llanrwst?

I've a colleague at work who's sister works for the council attending accident sites and a Biker plasters himself onto the road on a weekly basis in that region. It's not Evo's favourite test area for nothing!

what a sad situation we are in today indeed... supposedly fellow enthusiasts who share a common interest are more concerned with slagging each other off, and you wonder why the BMC as payed up members only...

whats worse is the growing trend ive seen throughout this board ... arrogant members (Rosc0Pcoltrane you certainly fit this catergory) who think just because they have done more posts than others they are to be listened to as said..

if thats the case you should have your own little E30 world, where no other can voice any opinions

O22ie, does the phrase tongue in cheek not mean anything to you?

What about the phrase irony?

Ignorance must be bliss.

In all fairness Rosc0Pcoltrane's gargantuan post count means he has probably seen all of this before. and he quite correctly in my opinion had a guess at what happened. he obviously has a fair idea about the the physics of motor vehicle handling and with the time he has spent on this board probably knows an awfull lot about e30s aswell. in that situation i would probably have a little bit of a "mightier than thou" attitute aswell. a firm hand is often a good way to get people to listen if you are correct about something.
i agree about the slagging of though. a reasoned and structured post which has been carefully thought out has much more impact than calling some a "F*****G T**T" etc

Cheers Gibson, it really was theoretical, the reference to my post count was forum based irony, an attempt at humour, not trying to elevate myself to any such elitist stature. I'm already in the elite, no need to try!! :D (that was more humour, honest guys!)

I rolled my golf in a situation not entirely dissimilar, it was guesswork based on experience, which seemed to stack up. The corner looks to be in two parts, with the driver leaving the road in what looks like the apex, or where the corner tightens up. 3 wheel motion suggests the weight was over the nose, with inertia pulling towards the wall.

Forums are no place for the overly serious, characters are what adds to the ambience. There's a fair few on here. I pitty anyone who takes it too seriously!

Very true, the use of smilies often helps. Though taking a comment like this:

Just a thought, Gwyn:

Have you processed your insurance claim, if you are claiming, and retained possession of the vehicle?

Just thinking that would have been the first thing to do before pillaging the poor turd.

Unless of course, you're not claiming?

personally wouldnt advise claiming. no one else was involved and they will probably offer you £100 unless you have an agreed value policy. (i used my trade value system at work to look up the supposed "value" of your average e30)

Wasn't really a fib, I didn't want to claim and mechanically, it was f*cked!!!

I'm not trying to intimidate/scare/belittle anyone. I too dislike post count hierarchical willy waving, hence the irony employed in my post. I know a lot less than most on here, I don't profess to know otherwise. My opinion as to what happened was a sincere attempt to explain a possibility, which I dressed up to make it light hearted, rather than be definitive and conclusive.

In all honesty I don't think, nor worry about what audience this forum reaches, as I'm not deliberately trying to cause friction or arguement. I have no intention to offend so no need to fear any consequence.

It's all banter mate, it's meant as such, give and take, which IMO is the basis on this forum.

I'll reciprocate the apology, I've not intended to upset or give an arrogant disposition with what I write, if I have, then I too, apologise.

Not at all, i just believe that the banter, difference in belief's and opinions and the resulting debate is the main attraction of these forums. i personally believe that destroying someone else's point of view with a intelligent, clever and possibly very witty post is not just acceptable but encouraged, it adds flavour to these things.
i completely agree with you about the mindless slagging off however. if you have a strong opinion, explain it. dont just make a reference to the marital status of thier parents or imply that they physically resemble an amusing part of the female anatomy. it makes you look like you have the intelectual capacity of a rice pudding (not aimed at anyone in particular)

sorry to bump ot after so long but was this car crashed just south of porthmadog? went for a spin yesterday and saw skidmarks and a bashed wall with 2 chunks missing and thought of you...

If so, those corners are deceiving little buggers, you can see to overtake, whether you complete it is another matter i give my hubby severe earache when he overtakes near there! (not usually so far into the bend though!)
