A nice bit of chrome trim, done tastefully, always adds a touch of class to a car - providing contrast, as opposed to the rather bland (imho) all colour-coded look of the modern plastic-fantastic, look-alike motors. Many of the world's most highly prized classics (e.g, Ferrari 250GTO, Jaguar MKII, E-type, etc) went for deliciously chromed bits such as wire wheels

However, there's nothing worse than el-cheapo chrome trim which rusts or pits with corrosion, also supposed 'stainless steel' parts that rapidly develop a coat of rust or staining

Its not real chrome, over the last year or two a few companies have developed paints that look and shine like chrome.
