Here's my past

nova SR (rolled - fixed - rolled - broken)
golf c (still in posession)
Fiesta 1300S (car park write off - stopped by someones tow bar as they reversed into me :o )
Volvo 460si (gearbox write off)
306DT (crap brakes but a good payout considering winkeye )
325i (still in posession)
325i (kept gear & scrapped shell after finding giant TEAR - yes tear, in the firewall)
volvo 440si (bought as non runner 20p carb tube replaced, ragged and sold for £200 profit)
Disco 200 tdi (still in possession engine, g.box, tfr box etc for sale winkeye )
320i (mtec2, leather, manual for sale soon)
325i auto (delightful motor just sold)
Lotus in the garage (not a plastic elise)

318is is my daily driver - 36 mpg following the herd

I drive the g.friend up te wall if that counts :D
...so that's a Golf/325i/Disco/320i and Lotus that you have at the mo right?
If this is a cock show, I guess that gives you a fair sized wanger..? winkeye

E32 730i's were M30 6's until 1992 iirc and M60 V8's thereafter.

Enjoying this thread! I only have access to e30s at the moment, other than occasional borrowing of my old man's Scenic (usually when I need something to fit bits of e30 in!). It is cack, 2 litre auto as well so it drinks juice but it does go reasonably well considering...

Had a go in my cousin's missus' mk1 MX5 the other day and now I want one, I'll just make sure I only take it out at night so no-one can see me...

2001. It's hardly a rocket, c.135bhp IIRC, but better than the 1.4 one I had as a courtesy car a few years ago (although that particular car was legendary for all sorts of reasons...). Also has some 'styling additions' up one side when my Dad had a senior moment while reversing through a gate. Noice... Trying to persuade him to buy something decent before he comes over all geriatric and buys a rover or something. He's already given up on changing gear for himself, lazy git. He's 61.

The F4R engine is ok but the DPO gearbox's are ticking time bombs!

The F4R is the 2.0 petrol engin used in Clio 172/182's, senic's laguna's meganes etc.

I've never seen one with a cracked cam lobe.

Its one of renaults better engines.

What was the engine size of the one with the carcked cam lobe?

Ah the K4M but without the variable cam timing dephaser that the later maganes/senics/clios have.

K4M's are shit!

They have hollow camshafts by the way.

I'm not sure we're expecting much more life out of it, only done 65k but it's a bit of a mess. Power steering pump's on its way out, interior is falling to bits, doors are going rusty, minging scrape up one side... We went through a phase of having new/nearly new renaults, I had a few clios, brother had a clio and a laguna, now realising why you shouldn't keep them too long. Seems most cars from mid-nineties on are a bit disposable though. My brother's MkIV Golf lasted well though, he's just traded it in for a Touran (more kids!).
