I am by some stretch the cleverest person on this zone: that's beyond dispute. So I hope my input has clarified matters. Seller Not Guilty!!!

Try words like 'Eight' and 'Months'.
Sympathy if there is something gone wrong, but engines don't like to be sat for months on end without being run, especially with hoses etc undone, letting air and water moisture in to rust things on the inside, and electrical connections to corrode.
Sorry, but a s/h engine is not something you would ever expect over 6 months warranty on, 30 days possibly from a professional car breakers, but not from a bloke somewhere stripping to sell. Time to move on I think and not turn this into some big aggro argument thread. read the previous comments, NO ONE thinks you have a case.
Oh, ps Mr Moody- " but im not a mechanic and cant really say, " So why are you talking then? Sorry, but it gets my goat people commenting as if they have all the answers, when they have no clue!
mr asswipe i aint a mechanic just a fellow zoner, the car is at a garage right now go and see it yourelf,
hes come on here asking for it be sorted if not he will sort it, its not bwt money its trust,
i jus hope it gets sorted,
o and why isnt the ebay add on here too, as its states what a wonderful engine it is????????

Where do I know this guy Moody from? I remember his username and remember an issue but cant remember which...
Rob, as for this guy Azza... You clearly ripped him
Selling him an Engine for £200 then he let it sit for 8 months...
You bad bad man... Does he still have his Receipt with the guarentee? ...
You'd be mad to give him any sort of refund mate... Look at it this way dude, If I had bought the engine from a close friend, and said the same thing 8 months down the line, I wouldnt expect him to give me a refund, the fact that 8 months have pasted, the engine hasnt turned, you dont know how its been stored, you dont know what spanner has tried fitting it...

Probably because eBay deletes ads after 60 days under the presumption that any issues with the item will have been raised and resolved within that period.MOODY wrote: o and why isnt the ebay add on here too, as its states what a wonderful engine it is????????
If the engine has been sitting around for 8 months untested, then that's beyond both the seller's and eBay's concept of "reasonable time".

an engine was bought, the guy has no doubt spent a fair amount of money restoring an E30 but doesn't go through a minor issue of getting the sump off, check/replace the oil pump (FFS who with even half a brain wouldn't at least check the oil pump whilst the engine is out). So the sump is off why not look at the crank, bearings etc anyone who is being paid to fit an engine surely understands what they are looking at inside the bloody thing.
gonna waste 200 plus getting the engine taken apart to find out whats wrong...
I could go on and on about time scales, witholding his number blah, blah, blag.
Yes BLAG! would be what this chancer is trying
Rob as you have been enjoying 6pots since 95 and I would say from your posts on the zone been playing with engines from a lot earlier than that I would be 99.9% certain a. you would know if that lump was shagged and b. you wouldn't shafted someone over for the sake of what in reality is a few quid.
Tell him to do one fella your consience should be clear and jut let karma sort out the fool.

OK just in response to a few of your points :MOODY wrote:the guy who has got the engine is a zoner too think his id is azza, and he has been having a e30 restored, he purchased the engine a few months back fair does, either he buys it today or few months back the engine is knackerd, its been fitted by a local garage, as you only sold the block for 200 and i told the guy you were a zoner he expected a good engine, the engine start up fine and sound good and probs the same in the vid but it knocks from bottom end now and again and its heavy sound, the bottom end will neva knock just like that, but im not a mechanic and cant really say,
either way its sold to a zoner and its no good need be sorted, its not about the money either its trust of a fellow zoner,
ive heard and seen the car its not been driven either, the body still need building up,
think about it why would he just say its knocking???????
1) I sold the Engine AND box for £200 which also included the gear linkage, and main engine Loom - it wasnt just the "block" he bought for £200.
2 ) There was definately no "heavy knock" or any sort of knocking sound from the bottom end whilst it was in regular use or when the youtube video was taken - which was literally just before the engine was pulled out of the car and was taken so that any prospective buyer could see recent evidence of it running.
3) I have no idea why he would say its knocking - but how long is long enough ? what if it had taken him 2 Years to fit it ? would he still expect to be able to come back to me then ? Sorry but 8 months is too long - that engine could have been in and out of several E30's in that time for all I know.
As I said to you on the phone earlier the other bits you bought from me for £100 were fairly priced for what you got and anything else you had to spend to get it running has nothing to do with what you paid me for - which was what you got for your £200AZZA wrote:hi all
i purchased the block and gearbox for 200 and 100 for rad and hoses alt,
i had to buy a ecu and power steering pump and other bits from else were its all mounted up so its not cheap!!!!!!!!!!
either way i want my money back, as i purchased in good will from a zoner,
ive even told rob to come and view the car and see for himself, ive got nothing to hide,
just want some justice
As has already been said had you fitted the engine and reported this straight away I would have been happy to come up to stoke to see /hear the problem for myself and if necessary either have the engine back and refund you, or make some sort of gesture as a compensation measure.
However you've had it for 8 months and as had already been said even a professional trader would have offered a 30 or max 90 day warranty at most - and if you don't report an issue in that time thats just the way it goes.
I've done nothing wrong here - as I've already said - why would I have bothered to remove the engine from a car that was going to be scrapped and advertise it it with a video showing it running just before it was removed if I had the slightest idea there was a problem with it. It would have been much easier for me to leave it in the car - as it was I had to borrow a zoner with an engine crane and spend hours in the cold getting it out !
Oh and Moody the reason the Ebay ad isnt here is that it was listed in March !
I'm glad both sides have had their say - but I'm sorry as my gut feeling has been confirmed now by plenty of other zoners I wont be making any sort of refund.
