Got it as a gift from my brothers and sisters for getting my place at uni. Perfect 1st car. I've always like the look of E30's(eventhough their way older than me!)and they've got loads of character......much better than new small cars. Just hope one day I'll own an E30 M3. :D

The "Hofmeister Kick" I think it's called.

I didn't fall in love with my E30. When I first met it, it singled me out because I had an over - full wallet. Having now removed the contents for me it sticks around because (I assume) it feels sorry for me.
If it ain't broke, fix it till it is

I'm led to believe that the Hoffmeister Kick is the quarterlight. The Stuttgart Curve is the bonnet-line that wraps around the windscreen and then continues back...

It was the toy E32 750IL I had as child. It was a fair bit larger than my car toy cars, but it came complete with a forwards opening bonnet and opening doors! It cemented my love of '4 lamp BMWs'. E24, E30, E32 & E34, they all look "right".

Truth be told, I think I prefer the styling of the e34 but I'm drawn to the e30 by the idea of easily making the car whatever you want it to be. A lowly 316i 2dr with no options ticked can become a screaming track beast or a comfortable refined cruiser depending entirely on what you want it to be.

Iv always been into the older cars, while my mates have got modern cars. I had a golf vr6 as my first quick car and loved that, then a low point with an escort rs turbo and now my tech 1 sport. Its as good as the vr6 in every way but is also better looking, better built and much more individual.

A friend had what I think was a 325i coupe in orange with a brown houndstooth interior (or was it a E21 323i?) with brown vinyl doorcards. It was a great car, till the bottom end went and he got rid.

Then when I had to commute by car instead of train I had a look. Had been checking out E30s for over a year. Unfortunately I was only looking at autotrader and there were never many for sale. So when a rust ridden 325i touring caught my eye I rushed to see it. As soon as I heard it running and saw the good side (and missed the rear arch on the bad side - whoops, possibly distracted by the massive hole in the nearside arch) there was no going back :D

At first I couldn't drive it - throttle is heavier than the clutch on my fwd french turd. Plus I didn't know the history so kept it below 4k revs till I changed the cambelt. Since then and with a new wing, tailgate and now the rear arch just done, plus a couple of days snow and ice successfully navigated, I'm very much in love  :D

Some ice, toyos, k&n and black recaros make it a proper q car, now just need a front valance, LSD, and and and and aaaaaaagghghhhhhh1!!!1!!

my 1st bm was an e3? 30s bought for £100 ,my brother had a 2002 touring,an my mate had a e21 323i.
that was 1983 my first car my all time favourite was a mk1 cortina 1500gt 2 dr,green with gold stripe an lotus steels, ive since had about 15 3litre capris, 1 mk1 mexico,1mk1 sport mk2 vans,2 2.8 capris an sh.t load of other stuff.

what got me into e30s was my mates silver tech 2 sport with black leather,it cost him well over 10 grand back in the early 90s it was awsome.

my 1st e30 was a 318i touring which fell to bits in about a month but the fact it was rear wheel drive and the way it drove and handled i was hooked thats why ive been colecting em ever since i love every thing about em ,reliable ,the coach lines, the noise of the six pots blah blah bleeding blah :D

oh an i had a e28 528 auto from a posh chap in richmond which got written orf by a drunk driver!

A mate had one. Then another. His dad owns a mint, always garaged, <18k miles, techII sport in dolphin grey.

There was a red 320i SE auto lying around out the back. Bought that for £500. The more I drove it and looked into these cars the more and more I loved them.

Thinking of something different for a daily now, as my poorly 320i is about to die me thinks! But still got the 325i project waiting to get started. Just need the garage space + money + time + effort, etc. I have the time and effort awaiting. Just need the last two pieces of the puzzle.

Uni is killing the project.

i remember going to the dealer with my dad to pick up a 316i Lux that we still have to this day.

i also when with him when we picked the e24 as well, which is now mine. well it is officially mine when i turn 30 in couple of weeks :D

i fell inlove with e30 M3's after watching them race and getting up close to several at BMW shows during the 90's and being taken for a drive in one when visiting munich legends in the early 90's

thats where the love passion and enthusiasm comes from

What i love about my E30's..
well they have Character.. compared to the modern Jap cars i've owned..
Sure.. they have there faults, but theres just something about them..
a few years ago I had an E36, but to me that was pretty boring, sure alot more refined then the E30, but I think its the rawness of the E30 that I really like.. you can tell it wasn't a CAD designed car like the newer ones.

I could own much newer cars if I wanted to, but I am enjoying tinkering around with these old beasts for now.

I used to do a milk round when I was about 13 (1987) and one of the customers had an E30 Alpina C2 in dolphin and it looked brilliant. 3 mornings a week I would peer through the window and look at the interior.

I got my first e30 (325ise 2 door) in 1993 when I could afford insurance.

MY ex girlfriend's brother bough a 316 with the Mtec II kit on it. When we split up a few months later, I treated myself to a new car... a 318i in Dolphin Grey and I've always loved E30's from them on. My iS puts a smile on my face now everytime I drive it :)

Just needed something less costly, still quite fast and with a bit of boot space!

And when I was 18 and got my drivers licence, the first car I drove out of the driving school was my brother in law's 316 carb turb....

since I got a '74 2002, 1989 325i, 1988 Alpina B3 2.7, and a 325i Touring from 1991.

I still have and will always have the Alpina B3 and the Touring, just can't get enough of those 2 !
