I dont mind ppl pay a lot of cash for a very nice E30 with no rust, one owner, service history etc etc
U can buy a rusty one, and start making it up to be a nice car and you will have a huge bill in the end!
I gess that my E32 will not be a cheap car when finish in the future.... 8)

Where is the engine ? black heated sports leather ? factory a/c?, cruise ?, LSD ? etc etc. No matter how much you polish it it is still a 320 with a grey interior !

1: Where is the engine ? --> What are the legally stated engine requirements needed to Drive to and from Tesco's or B&Q?

2 : black heated sports leather ? --> It's got seats that are ( and i may be wrong about this ) suitable for sitting on , whilst the driver wears clothes to keep warm

3 : factory a/c?, cruise ? --> a/c is SUCH a neccesity in Northern Ireland's sub Tropical climate , as is cruise control to assist the driver in navigating the multiple roundabouts and speed-bumps between my home and the aforementioned shopping establishments 3 miles away

4 : LSD ? --> I see your point on this one though. The missus loves drifting and carreering through the roundabouts , she says there's just something special about the sound of milk cartons and cans of pedigree chum exploding against the sides of the freshly valeted bootspace

Well you guys know alot more than me about E30's, I picked up my first one yestereday, a 325i touring.
What I will say though is these cars are now starting to become a bit retro rather than an old BMW that happens to be one of the best cars they ever made, that alone means that prices for good ones will start to creep up. But they will have to be good ones, as alot of the people buying them for a bit of retro cool want them to be minters and will be prepared to pay for them.

I bought a high miler, liked it as it was local, has had all the bushes and shocks replaced recently and drives like a dream, having said that, after doing just 100 miles in it I would have upped my budget and got something with lower miles on it so I could justify adding a few bits like and LSD etc. Having said that I may just do that anyway.

I have owned some nice cars including an E46 CSL, and have to say, as a fun car for a back road blast the E30 is right up there with the best, and you don't have to be going 120mph to enjoy it!! :D

There are loads of people who would happily pay decent money for a touring that looks that good.

E30Virgin - If you like the car, go and buy it! To me it looks like a very tidy Touring and these are getting harder to get hold of. It's obviously been well maintained and Old Colonel Cars have a good reputataion. Improving its spec (adding OBC, leather etc) is all simple DIY.

The 320i won't win any traffic light Grand Prix's but will be a lovely smooth cruiser. Once past 3000rpm they go reasonably well. A 325i is hardly quick in modern terms.

If I had it spare I think I'd pay near to that (the original post touring), but I'd have to haggle a bit just for the sake of haggling.

That 320i - if it's as good as it looks - looks to be worth 2 grand. £2000 isn't a lot of money for a car now and you know that looked after, you'll still have it in 10 years. It's hardly unpleasant to drive.
That Touring is worth £4000 at a push - but a clean 18 year old BMW estate isn't worth 5 grand just yet. £5000 buys a nice 325i Sport, or a 635CSi, both of which were a more desirable car back in '89.

all prices really depend on how good they are mechanically, lets not forget that if the car is for his wife a 320 would be alot smoother and easier to drive.

But the Black one is nice :)

Red one has a better colour

but each to their own I suppose :p

good to see a good one out there, and even at that price its cheaper than a £1k shitter that needs respraying welding and a large amount of mechanical work to get it right why can't people see that when they talk of a cars value?

Fair comment :D , I will admit that, in the past, I have been so blinded by shiney paint and alloys that the cardboard front panel was overlooked.

I remain to be convinced that a 325 touring is worth 5k though

as do i, it maybe mint but i dont think its worth the asking price. the word chancer comes to mind. need i say you could have a much more desirable e30 for the money.......... 320i.s.... 325i.s. you would have to be out of your @ucking mind to pay that money for the car.

If the seller is a trader, the price will reflect that.
IIRC, there was a post on here a while ago with a link to an advert for a 320i with an asking price of c.£3k. :clin: That was a trader too.
Don't forget that traders have to make good profit on the cars they sell. The Touring in question at £5k would probably be realistically worth no more than £3.5k - £4k if it was a private sale (if it's as good as it seems to be on the face of it).
This is why I no longer drive an E30......

i totally agree with you but 3.5k would be my personal limit.... if its as good as he says it is.

The guy selling it obviously knows BMW's and has been in the business for some time. If he says its worth that then that MUST be the value of the car, we should be happy that the proces are going up!
