Hi all,
ive heard that if i mate my 87 325 head with a 2.7 eta block it will have some nice figure's. is this right and if so does anyone know what i could be looking at figure wise?

It will work but you should check the valve to piston clearance if using a diffrent cam.
You would be best fitting 325 pistons that will work better with the head.

This is a bit of a myth, using an eta block and a 325 head.
From what i understand it can be done but i think you need something like an eta block that needs to be cut down along with a 325 head a 324td crank and 325 high comp pistons.
It doesnt work putting a bottom end from an engine that produces 122bhp alone with a high comp head and ending up with anywhere near 200bhp.
There are various other ways of doing it, if you can read german it on e30.de

Several have been done on the zone mate. Depends on the money you throw at it. Gains can be had from 180/190 BHP through to the low 200's. Very torquey. Can use a 320 head or a 325. Vernier pullies get mentioned a fair bit in the company of the eta block.

IIRC Ant built a Ninja 2.7 with lairy cam and ecu work for an undisclosed sum. Think this made 225.6bhp

^hehehe sorry dude, had too has since had a standalone ECU suite fitted .Ant,

A 325i head fits straight onto an Eta block and gives a 9.2:1 compression on a later (post 8/85) Eta engine. Been there, done it! A 2.7 gives a noticeably more torque than a 2.5.

There is a thread running at the moment in the conversions section, 2.7 my touring or similar, our friend from Italy is asking the same questions, have a read through and ask if you still have questions. My 2.7 makes around 180bhp,depending on which dyno you belive.....
