thinking of getting the underside checked over and/or treated before the winter. appreciate your views on how effective the original underseal is, pressure washers, steam cleaners, waxoyle (sp?), ziebart (is that still around?)
also are there any specialist companies around Bucks/Berks/Beds? noticed that munich legends can do it. thanks
underbody maintenance

My advice would be to do the job yourself, start with the front wheel arches, jack it up at a safe height, remove the arch covers first then scrape and brush out any loose mud, scrape off rusty areas, Use a wooden lolly stick to remove mud from the back of the arch lips.
Mix up some underseal thined with white spirit and coat all areas. If you go to any motor factors you can buy a waxoiling kit (Pump up sprayer) thin again with white spirit and spray and brush on. Do the same with the Rear Arches (no covers to remove).
The underside is not so easy if you don't have access to a ramp, you will need to jack the car up and place it at working height on properly secured axel stands, treat all areas including brake pipes, fuel tank etc.
If you do it properly it will only need doing every two years, and if you do it yourself you will be able to see for yourself what sort of condition the underside is really in.
Good Luck, it's a filthy dirty job but very worth while.
Total DIY cost probably £60.
