E30's have a shorter wheel base which isn't as good for sideways as a 5 series. An E30 with f**ked shocks and suspension bushes can be a savage thing, which i reckon is what killed you off in the 318iS. when the suspension is good is when you can get it all in perspective not 20 year old tired sh!te

You have to be quick in an E30 but you can feel the back coming about half an hour before it does. Open diffs are way more twitchy but more progressive on the break. LSD's give you less reaction time but controlling the drift is much more easy and it won't whip the other way quick like an open diff chariot. If it all goes pete tong killing the power and a bit of opposite lock usually gets you out of most problems. Even a light dab on the brakes will pull the back end in sometimes.

Try a touring, E30 325i is the one! they are better than a saloon and imo handle better. The extra weight helps despite it making the car heavier.

Yeah, that makes lots of sense. I've got a shed full of powerflex, coilovers and new arbs and other bits here. I'm so glad I never had time to fit it all, I would have lost a lot of money then. Everything is being transfered to a 4dr 320 at the moment so should be fun. I'd love to have another touring but it makes sense to use this 320.

Some nice points there Si.

Wow, I was expecting a little more resistance regarding the M3. The more I have been looking at the M5 the more I want one now. The maintenance really doesn't put me off to be honest, neither does the general cost of ownership. The M535 looks like a fair bit of fun too, I can't believe they are so cheap for so much car.

Regarding where to find an M5? Anyone have any ideas other than ebay, Pistonheads, BMWCC etc?
