After lurking about on this forum i wonder how many peeps on here had an E30 as there first car? My first vehicle was a Escort Van but in my final year of uni 98/99 my old man gave me a 1991 316i. It had come into his garage as a 77k mile non runner that the owner didn't want to repair, broken timing belt, bent valves etc. So my dad gave him a grand for it and i got my first car. Lucky boy! The painter resprayed the front end (due to stone chips) while my dad sorted the lump.

I sold my E30 back in 2001 after 3 years of ownership. And i have some very fond memories of that car.

Anyway i'm trying to trace it. Maybe some Edinburgh/Scottish zoners can help me.

A young dude from Livingston bought it. Does anyone on here know if it's still alive?

It was a 1991 316i in Apline White, colour coded electic mirrors but rest was poverty spec (cloth interior/all black bumpers/no fogs/no sunroof) with 17" Aplina's, lowered 60mm. Reg: H 261 JSW.

After i sold it i bought a mint E36 coupe, but the E30 kept appearing. Really bizzare. Two weeks after i sold it i passed him on the edinburgh bypass, then saw it in Lanarkshire (where i live). Then my mate said that he saw it every day at Napier University Merchiston Campus (where i had graduated from in 1999) then i saw it at Halfords regularly where he must have had a part time job.

It was for sale a couple of years ago but when i phoned up it had less miles on it than when i sold it 8O apparantly had chrome arches put on and my mate had said it was getting rough.

I still think about buying it back and doing a full on resto just for sentimental reasons

Alass my beloved e36 met an untimely end in January  due to a fuckin stupid cow losing control of her astra and twatting my coupe off the motorway at 70, off a barrier, becoming airbourne, and barrelrolling then skidding to a stop on our roof in boggy ground.

To say i was gutted was an understatement - i loved that car probably even more than the e30 and planned to keep it forever. It had just had new, bilsteins, eibachs, genuine bushes, exhaust, michelins etc

This was the result. It's still sitting in my dad's workshop. The DVLA and Insurance have been total wankers about me retaining my cherished plate, but after a 5 month wrangle the plate has been transferred and the claim is pretty much completed.

My fiancee and i are just feeling normal again

I'm now out of bmw ownership for the first time in 7 years (got a 55k mile 2000 Golf Turbo cheap) ,saving hard for a M Z3 Coupe but wouldn't say no to an e30 resto project for a 335i

Anyway i digress - does anyone know the whereabouts of my old 316i? And does anyone else have daft sentimental thoughts towards there first BMW?

Yeah I know Crossford :D

some classic roads down your way, althought the main one from hamilton to lanark is less fun since they changed the garrion bridge bit

I'm in Blantyre-probably about 30mins from your place!

The new roundabout at garrionbridge is top banana for a wee drift - though not in my current FWD barge :x

Yeah Blantyre is just up the road :D

My lass is a borders chiqua, from Hawick (where there seems to be an abundance of tidy 318i lux 2 doors haha), may well pop down to the Berwick meet. No scottish meets?

georgen - Nah, Magic Juan is what my pals call me. Although agreed agreed Montoya is top driver and is a motocross/enduro bod like myself...so he must be a good guy!

Yeah would like to get a central meet organised when i have more time and a BMW in my garage again!

320T - i'm down near Peebles quite alot - down at Eddlestone at the motocross there and pass through it on my way to the track at Selkirk and on my way to Jill's parents place. Down at Glentrss with my mountain bike too so will have to keep a look out for Borderbmw
