I seem to remember a page on the DVLA website where you could look up reg numbers and see if they were still MOTed or SORNed etc? Is that still going, and can someone give me a link?
I'm just trying to chase an E30 my dad used to have... a nice white 325i, which he got after his first 320i. If anyone has a 325 reg no. F828CWJ please get in contact with me - would love to hear from you!
Cheers, Ian

Considering Selling the Cabby, looks like its gonna go
Excellent, I have found the DVLA hate thread. I shall add...
Letter comes through this morning saying there is a discrepancy between the colour on my log book and that of the last MOT(8 months ago!). This new computerised system is a load of BS, dodgey MOT's are no harder to come by and its more hassle for the legit garages and customers as it takes longer.
Anyway I look at the v5, this is not your normal molested council chariot, in fact its been owned by several anal people judging by all the invoices kept. It states the colour as : "Not stated". The MOT states it as Blue as that is what it is and always has been. So someone at the DVLA 15 years ago was a lazy cunt and decided that pressing the Not stated button was easier than looking at the sales invoice etc etc. And they wonder why there is a descrepancy now. Useless bunch of facking half wits wasted half and hour of my time writing a "nice" letter back to them

letters are the only way forward with these inbread pric*s. Everytime i try and get somewhere on the phone i just end up with a welsh person bleating on at me (ironic?) and then after half an hour of wasting my time and phone bill they say the only way it will get resolved is if i write a letter. Allegedly they are taking me to court because i haven't declared my first i.S off road; yep, the one that got written off over a year ago! Useless Fu*ks!

Sent them two SORN applications in one envelope once. Big mistake....
I was told i couldn't cash in my road tax on my old car....or they wouldn't be able to transfer my plate...i had 4 months remaining on it at that time!
They took 3 months to do a straight forward transfer, aong with 3 visits, and 2 phone calls....on EVERY occasion i was told a different story!
Lucky for the long haired hippy bloke i spoke to he wasn't on shift the last time i went!

I just have to add to this thread...
...bought my 318iS which was SORN. Advised the DVLA (Dimwitted Very Lame Arseholes) of new ownership, address, etc and asked to continue with SORN. Got an email confirming SORN successfully registered.
Came to put the car on the road some months later and successfully applied for a tax disc over the net. The DVLA, however, while issuing the new tax disc informed me that the vehicle had been untaxed for several months and I had committed an offence!

I always find it an interesting fact that Swansea has the highest proportion of car theft in the UK per person of population. Surely its a bit sus with the DVLA being based there?!
Sorn online is the way forward!!! They never lose them!Skip wrote:Yup I ALWAYS send things in seperate envelopes!!Brianmoooore wrote:Sent them two SORN applications in one envelope once. Big mistake....
I have just moved house and sent both my bike and car registration documents off in seperate envelopes - they came back yesterday, barely two weeks from me sending them, again both in seperate envelopes!
So for this time, thumbs up DVLA!
