Hannah, nothing wrong with jap cars, they run and run! My brother picked up a nissan primira 16v 'S' regde 60k miles today for 1400, and dare i say it its better in many respects than the e30

Thanks for the words people, but save them UNTIL it gets its pass sheet. After all this time it better not fail on anything, but I wouldnt mind betting i get an advisory!
Note for PacerPete, it wont fail on jacking points - The hardener has had 2 years to go off

Like I said though... shes still work in progress (she probably wont have skirts on at Aces etc etc etc), but shes still pretty.
She ran a bit lumpy when i started her earlier (it was 4degrees outside mind) but she idles SPOT ON 640 rpm. perrrrrfect. Larini sounds sweet too - subtle.

i knew someone would put that smiley up! dont have my cam with me here in wales, but i will pick it up before i come to Aces and post them up on tuesday for all to see.
Ive just taken it round the block* for its maiden run, escorted by my dad in his van. Car feels REALLY tight and together!!!!! Id forgotten how much i loved the manual steering rack. Slightly lumpy but i think I need to set the plug gaps and check the leads out and Im laughing!
Id also forgotten how tail happy the E30 was with a slipper.
Pulled out gently from a junction and had the steering wheel upside down before i'd even got out of the junction
Oops, my bad! It was totally unintentional and I'm kind of glad my dad didnt see me do it. Ive just gotta be careful now and re-learn how an e30 handles after driving french wrongness for soooooooooooooooo long!
Found my speedo doesnt work though, which i know is an MOT fail straight away, so im just off back out the garage to sort that out (anyone have any ideas)?

* "The block" is a 3 mile countryside loop with about 4 farms and no cars. 2 junctions and a few bends.

use the multi to bell the wires from the diff plug back to under the seat mate, almost certain to have broken along there somewhere

Well done mate, long time in the waiting a? - if i remember rightly we where all on the old Zone when you started her refurb? back in the days when Russ318is was whoring his way around posts lol
Ref speedo, as Ant said mate check the diff loom plug first and work back - kind of feel like i'm teaching you to suck eggs here lol.
Neil.
PS, best of luck with the Test - i'm sure with all the work done, she'll pass no problems.

Speedo and Smiles Per Gallon guage working now,
Neil, its been FAR too long in the waiting! Yep, i bought it when we were on the old zone (thats going back a fair bit)July 04 I think i bought it. Drove up to Hull/Huddersfield to get it. What a flocking waste of money hey?!?!
Thanks man, i HOPE she passes no probs.
Jon, get your arse to the Ace tomorrow. Hopefully I'll rock up with the car (preferably NOT on a tow-truck!)

Driving a rebuilt car is very nerve wracking. The last one I did was a Cooper S I rebuilt in 1990. The first drive lasted 4 hours, around 70 miles with a toolbox in the boot plus bottles of all the various fluids. I can't remember how many laybys I stopped in just to alter or to tighten something up, find a stray rattle etc. But by the end of the day it was running and driving fine and I never touched it again in the 7000 miles I did in it.
