hi all,
after wiring my map light mirror up, i tried to put it back in place,.......can i hell do it

there must be an easier way than just push..!!
tried hitting the bloody thing with a hammer and still no good

Its a mission isnt it!

Ant suggested to relieve one side slightly with a file or dremmel. Worked a treat and seems secure as it ever was.

It's one of those pig-of-a-jobs on E30's...

Try a search in tech help for the various solutions, all of which involve force!

sure is mate, gave it a squirt of WD, could get the spring to close up slightly, but different story when up in the air

tried but of the hammer and force it in, too dodgy tho, slipped a couple of times.....windscreen is a bit close....lol

Cant you locate one side and then put upward pressure on the other side?

Works for me although a bit tricky!

tried that eko, thing is the original mirror goes straight in and out, this is mega tough

corky you mean sort of slide end of spring down the screwdriver......if not y'll av to come round and demonstrate....hehe winkeye

These mirrors fall in with the right technique :)

Like gcorcky said, screwdriver is the way forward, put one side up into place then just press the other side in with a flat bladed screwdriver 8)

If you find a way of stopping it vibrating though do give us a shout :wink:

winding out buffer helps but still a bit of blurry rearview lol :cool:

yeah, ive even got a rubber tap washer behind it :roll:

It does get annoying, so much that I may even go at it with some JB weld 8O

mine was vibrating like hell when i first fitted it, then i wound the little stopper right out to the window, and its completly stable now :)

and my god it was hard to do! im dreading taking it out to run the wiring :( (i fitted it in a fit of excitment about getting a new bit :D)
