Had mine listed on ebay last week with a start price £975, 47 people watching but no bids. Some interest via ebay, but I was racing so couldn't let people view at the weekend and they disappeared. I don't think its too expensive when bog standard 320 saloons can regularly make £700 +. I said that I wouldn't break it, but now I'm seriously tempted! Relisted on a 5 day auction. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0022605194 . So what am I doing wrong? Hope its not price, as it owes me more than I'm listing it for :(

Cheers
Brian

I think it's the paint work thats putting folks off but looks a bargin for the right person who could do the spaying him self ?

Also most of the summer has gone so this might lower the amount of people looking for a cab ?

if you look on ebay there are reams of e30 cabriolets. most are nasty scrap(not saying yours is).

as you know, there is a small market for cabriolets. and obviously this is only alive in the summer. with the age and supply of all these e30 cab"s most people are in the market for a nice late models in nice condtion. summer is pretty much over now.

problem is that yours need a lot of money throwing at it .it also has cloth.

if you want to make some money back and your not interested in keeping it then i say break it.

Hi Scott, yup thats the one. I did the MOT work, got rid of those wheels (and odd sized tyres  ) and put the 15s on. Also a few bits that I didn't know about when I got it like fuel filler pipe. Complete interior swap, the original interior was well past it. And kinda thinking now why the f did I bother, because I can't keep it and lose £Â£ selling it, + all the time spent on it. Ho hum. I have broke scrappers for race spares but didn't want to break this as it could be a decent car. But sensible money for the roof, the wheels, the interior and I'm getting close to the car asking price. Ok, I reckon if I still have it next weekend thats likely what will happen.

You need to spend money to make money on ebay, make it a featured advert so it appears at the top of the page.

Also your pictures are way to small, especially if you are unavailble for people to come and have a look.
If you have large enough pictures, especially of problem areas people wont even bother to ask to come and look.

High start prices and best offer/buy it know don't get the best money from what I can work out. You are far better to start with 1p No Reserve and make sure people know that it has no reserve and will go to the highest bdder.

Also 7 day auction if possible, so people have enough time to find it.

You will get loads of watchers, people will think they can get a really good bargain, especially if they hold off to the end. Then you hope they get excited in the heat of the moment at the end and put big bids on.

Hold your nerve and it should easily go over £1000 but this may happen in the last few mins or even seconds of the auction.

Thats my way but each to there own.

I dare say since it needs a total repray, new screen, aerial fixing and bodykit with dodge fixings and a bodged on spoiler its putting everyone off. Oh and its a 320i

I.E aint been looked after

Total respray will cost 2k plus for matalic then they have to sort out spoiler, window screen and kit so could be 3k by the time they have finished putting it right.

So people i guess would prefer to pay 4k for one which is in near mint condition and not have to wait around while it gets prept and resprayed etc.

Plus your ad makes it sound you aint to bothered about it either, the bit where you said paint it matt black with a paint brush 8O

But thats only my opion :)

Thats what I meant Argos, a grand for a convertible with a years mot is 2nd hand fiesta territory, peanuts. And that's all I was expecting for it, not 2-3k because it is a project for somebody and a cheap way into cab ownership rather than the finished article. Best ebay offer so far £800, an email offer of £850. Still tempted to break it, get rid of the hood, wheels, interior, Mtec kit and a few odds and sods that should get me close to the asking price, then have the shell to build a fairly unique racer over winter.

Tell em you'll sell it for £900 without such a minty hood...

Would be a unique racer indeed... probably not a very fast one but hey, you wouldn't want to mess your hair up anyway...!
