read my sig
m3 m30 turbo was runnig regular high 13 sec 1/4 miles times, fastest one i did was a 13.5?? but the fatsest timing slip i have proof of is for 13.9 with full interior, cage, ice and full tank of fuel
if i droped the gearing i would run even quicker with the old set up
I WILL be in the 12's next year, using a shorter diff and more power.
in all the performance bmw thrashes i've only seen a couple of the UK's best cars put times in quicker than mine
i'd like to see another reliable e30 post a 13 sec 1/4 mile , in full road trim !
i know the there are a few motors coming to the pod in september which will surprise a few people !

yeah it was a drag racer but my point is that this was with a e30 box, diff and correct size wheels, no arch mods and it was under control, spujvern or someting like was his name, i expect being on proper strip with drag radials with something like this http://www.importintelligence.com/PLaunch.html and EBC map to help you launch will be totaly different to you driving on normal road with normal tyresfuzzy wrote:even with my modest power compaired to the big guns i can still feel the back end trying to break out at full boost, trying to keep 600 bhp under control must be a nightmare.isnt 9 second quarters for drag racers with serious power etc?
Is that how we determin a quick road car these days???
In a straight line?
i would of said a better way to find a quick cars is by lap times
on a track day!!
I only say that cause i could only get a 14.3 at santa pod but it was standard then.
2 weeks later i give a 380bhp cossie the kicking of its life round Milton "we love a roundabout" keynes

0-60 are bollocks, little saxo's out the box crack it in 7 seconds and civic typeR is 6 seconds, which can give an e36 m3 a run for its money any car with the right gearing can get a very low 0-60
a 0-100 is a good run in my opinion, also a 1/4 mile, a standing km time with top speed at the end of it will be fun!!
and round a track or handling circuit would be good as well, but find me a venue which can accomodtae all these ??
i belive there is a show which aims to find the UK's fastest cars, also the tuners GP covers some of these as well !!

Fair enough, i agree with you on the 0-60. 0-100 would be much better, i never thought of that. And yeah it is probably hard to find a track for the day unless you found an abandoned airfield or something. Shame you cant get hold of the top gear test track.lol. See if they could do a thing on it. Hehe, that would be ace but im getting carried away.0-60 are bollocks, little saxo's out the box crack it in 7 seconds and civic typeR is 6 seconds, which can give an e36 m3 a run for its money any car with the right gearing can get a very low 0-60

No No No, straight line is best, no one will take my slowest title, but if there is a bend in there, i can get round those!!!
But honestly we have here in Bahrain an event called speed trip (no LSD involved!
) which we run. its over two days, day one in a car park round a cone track, penalties for hitting cones etc and we [points are awarded for best time 2nd best to the last so all get some points, have to group the cars by power to weight which gives us a penatly factor to penalise cars like the Caterham which i have not been beaten in
, (but as you lot want to do it with all E30's that would not be necessary).
then second day in the morning is on the drag strip, 402 metres and allowed three runs, best time gets best points, then on the F1 GP circuit for some practice and then three flying laps, best lap time = highest points.
they are all added up and the penalty system for the power to weight factor and the winner is decided from that.
Oh yeah, you are not allowed to play with car/suspension settings for the drag, one setting for the weekend!
each year i have done it the Mitsu Evos have won overall, closely followed by the boxsters and the Caterham, then belive it or not quite low down the field a Carerra GT (but he couldn't drive) mid pack was a 1000hp Supra (dynoed and fully fast and furioused) also involved were lambos 355's etc etc but none were driven hard to be honest, so just goes to show the fastest overall car may not be the one with the most power if you run over different events. Car set up and driver play a big factor. would be good if someone could organise an E30 day for that (i may even fly to UK buy a 325 and have a go myself
Oh yeah for those interested this M3 didn't do too bad either, beat a lot of mopre exotic cars but it was not well looked after TBH.

It's not all about power....
Chassis mods are v important when considering how 'fast' a car is.
Who's would be quickest round the 'gring then???

the thing with going round a track, every driver is different and at different standards, lets just all give our cars to the stig !!jaistanley wrote:It's not all about power....

a short handling circuit would be fun, and short enough for us to remebmer and learn quickly so your cars ability will be proven and not the drivers ability
mind you acceleration is depandant on driver control and launch, but it is somthing we all priactice and do on the streets
i know roy from CA automotive kept srtuggling with the laubch in his e46 m3 s-charged car at a PBMW thrash, trying to get the 0-60 under 5 seconds and not snap th belt in the process!!
