yeh man but what did you pay for your car all in?? i paid derek £1550 for my 335 and ive probably put another 500 quid into it....peanuts for a car that will keep up with most motors around and goes sideways when i want.

that dude in the new m5 paid like 60k for the privelege of tanning your car....high price to pay in my opinion....you have the better car :D

no way is a e30 better than the new m5! by no means sorry lads these cars are intimidatingly fast.

i have a neighbour who has one in the nice blue colour! its unbelivably fast and if had the money id buy one tomz theyre built million times better than the e30 in my opinion!

dont get me wrong im a e30 nutter and have spent yrs in e30s but no way is the e30 better than a new m 5

er no of course its not....you missed my point.

what i was trying to say was for the money i personally (and possibly fuzzy) have spent on our e30's pound for pound we have the more enjoyable car.

i certainly have more satisfaction owning an e30 i bought for buttons than whatever outrageous price that bloke is paying a month for his new m5.....no idea how much that is like!

dont get me wrong if a new stylee m5 ever comes into my price bracket then id bite the sellers arm off to own it but im sure as fuck not paying the current prices.....even if i could afford it i wouldnt

maybe its something to do with being scottish :P winkeye

I think the formula you are looking for is Smiles per mile or bang for your buck

Same thing for me years ago, had an Alfa 164 3.0 V6, a pretty capable chariot that would see 140 all day long. Saw some Xenon bulbs coming up behind quite quickly so moved over and a new M3 came past (E46). I pulled out and sat on his rear end around 100, we got held up with some traffic and when the car in front of him peeled off I had already kicked down the auto and was full steam ahead, needless to say he gave me a lesson in outright speed. But I was sitting in my sub £1K turd having a ball and he had paid £40K for the privilege.

I take on cars I know I have no chance against, more often just to see how quick they go etc.

Egged my younger bro to have a go against a Saff Cossie a few years ago in his MK2 Golf 8V. We actually held him to about 35-40 before he screamed ahead, flaming on the overrun as we approached a roundabout. I like to see these "super" cars used in anger and will use any opportunity to bait the other driver.

yeh bang for your buck is a good way of putting it

thats part of the fun with a 335......especially a touring with a towbar....no-one really expects much from it.

ok the german plates and different lights give it away a bit but ive surprised a few folk with it....and ive been properly tanned by stuff i never should have taken on....porsches and the like....but its all a bit of banter :D

vectra gsi's are fun to take on....the 335 eats them up all day....love the look on their faces

thats part of the fun when you take on someone, you never know what they might have put under their bonnet and a drubbing could come from the most unexpected source winkeye

The M5 is a whole other Beast!!! i think its worth the money people pay for them all day long.

My mates Uncle has one and he just loves it. Its a shame that his wife mainly uses it for the school run and that he cant drive for sh*t.

Couple of months ago he bought a Gallardo paying £130k for it, and all the 3 months he owned it it was in the garage for 2 months. THey are just so crap and unreliable wheras the M5 has only been back to the garage for servicing. When you compre the prices the M% is just so so much better.

what really gets my hackles up is when your rippin up some tarmac and the guy in whatever super fast car infront of you knows your havin fun, blows you of in a shower of molten rubber and grit but then sits in your way for the rest of the journey thinkin he is being funny and ruining you great day! or even worse when they have paid all that cash for the car and dont use it for what it was intended for! now that annoys the living hell out of me, if you want to stick to speed limits and drive slow and safe, go buy a fekkin family car, why waste all that engineering perfection for a school run and sunday afternoon pootle down the road!

thats my two pence worth. thankyou and goodnight!

Even worse is when you do that, THEN they drop behind and tailgate your ass for the next 5 junctions! (Stupid E36 325 Mind you I did have the touring loaded to the gunnels with my belongings.. and it was a wet motorway. I didn't want to do some tail out action knowing I could snap it anytime {leaking front shocks, leaking sump, tail heavy, wet road, nice corners!!!} )

Once the E60 M5 drops in prce, which it inevitably will very soon, it will be one hell of a car as far as bang per buck goes.

Even the lesser E39 M5 is massively capable for under £15000 now.

you should be thinking of the bigger picture - one day that car (which has been driven gently and FSH and polished etc etc) will come up for 2nd hand sale, and the likes of you or me will be able to snap up an absolute bargain.

And why get stressed over someone else spending their money the way they want to?
