I bought a two of these from Bilstein U.K. to refresh the front suspension on my E30 M3. It’s a long story but amongst me fitting the wrong parts and exploring options on why my car’s ride height was far too high after refreshing everything on the front suspension with new parts, I was advised that I needed to fit Bilstein B8 Sport strut inserts as opposed to the B6’s.
So … I did. I bought some B8s albeit deep down I knew the B6s would probably have worked just fine and probably weren’t causing the issue but I decided to act on Bilstein’s advice and now a set of B8s are on the car. That means I have a pair of B6 Performance strut inserts (Part No. 34-001363) available should anyone want them before I list them for sale in the usual places…
For clarity the B6 struts were fitted to my car and so they show minor sign of being fitted to a car (scratches on the yellow paint etc) but my car was never driven with them fitted and so while being fitted, they’ve not been ‘used’ in the sense of being driven on. As soon as the car dropped to the ground after fitting the new suspension and B6’s it was clear there was a major issue - it transpired after a lot of messing about it was the wrong top spring caps.
So if anyone is needing a set of these or would like to buy them, then please let me know and I will send some pictures of the struts to anyone interested. The lowest price I can seem to find for a single strut is about £160.00 so c. £320 for a pair but I’m open to sensible offers if you would like them and if you do then let me know. I’ll be putting up for sale in the usual places if I don’t here from here in a few days.
