Whats the suggestions on 205/55/R15's as my rears fishtail in the wet, was looking at Yokohama's as I ran them on the Lotus but do I stick with premium tyres or go midtange for a car that does max 2k per year?

I stick a set of Nexen Pro on my cabby, 2nd set wear pretty well, maybe not the finest in the wet.

The past two 330 ci`s I have had both had budget tyres from asda on line and they have been through many different driving conditions. I have a set on my "posh" wheels on the e46 325 cab right now so thats three sets .
Wet or dry , slow or fast , hot or cold they are the best tyres I have bought for the money and none of them have let go.
If you wish to drive like a d**k then go on the track.

I would jump on Ebay, mytyres and a couple of other tyre shops are included in the 20% sale. Definitely some bargains to be had, uniroyal rainsport 3 for £55 a corner

I can’t speak highly enough of Kumho. I’ve ran Michelin, continental, Yokohama on my C63 and Kumho are the best I’ve tried so far. I was reluctant to try them as everything I had burns off in no time but decided to give them a go after I chatted to a lad who ran his 2016 RS6 on them. Well worth the money and have a good rating in the wet.

Give Oponeo a look, they have free delivery in the UK and have some fitting centres there too.

Cheers,
Joe

Beware cheap tyres on eBay. They are often approaching their sell by date. I believe after 6 years tyres have deteriorated significantly and lost a lot of their rubberyness

Falken ZIEX ZE914 on my previous 325i, great grip with reasonable wear. They also had the rim protector, which doesn't do much to stop curbing but flattens the sidewall in my opinion making them look better.

Thanks

I have Pirelli P6 195/60/R14's fitted on my 320i cabbie. They're not quite the recommended size (should be 195/65/R14), but they look in good condition and have plenty of tread left. However, they were on the car when I bought it ~2 years ago, so I'm not sure how old they are.

This morning I was driving my kids to childcare and fishtailed coming off a roundabout. Corrected and no harm done, but I was surprised at how easily it happened. It's been raining heavily, so the roads are a bit greasy, but I wasn't pushing hard at all. Is this just par for the course in an E30, or should I be looking at tyres / other?

I fitted Uniroyal Rain Expert 3’s and have been really pleased with them. Fitted Rain Sports to my other half’s Twingo GT when we had it and they were great too.

Couple of good tyres for the 205/55/15 around, Currently there is a Continental and a Goodyear. Rainsport 5 are still there and a bit cheaper than the other two.

Getting tyres for the back of staggered Alpinas, now that is more of a problem :banghead:

I've just fitted Rainsport 5 all round on mine , a harder compound I find but good value .

Yokohama released a new tyre a couple of years back, the Advan Fleva. They do it in a range of sizes, but surprisingly in 205 55 15 which is unusual. Very impressed with mine

Vote for Uniroyal Rainsport 3 but also Toyo Proxy and Toyo Proxy Snow for winter.
