Some pictures of 2 legendary South African cars from my uncles collection.
He bought these recently- SA spec e30 325iS evo HP in diamond black and a henna red 333i (B6 3.5):

I got to do about 250km of driving in each car and what a pleasure it was.
The 325iS feels raw and wants to kill you. its also very tail happy.
Also the amount of attention that these cars get here is actually quite scary.
Driving it without a working AC in Johannesburg was a killer but i survived.

Head to head against an e36 M3 3.0 from standstill its ahead by about 2 car lengths up till about 3rd gear(around 160kmph) then the M3 reels it in and its game over.

On the way back to Johannesburg we swapped cars and i got into the 333i. This one has working AC and no power steering.
I never really push this one though it feels so much more refined, smoother and more comfortable than the 325iS. I'm guessing all Alpina e30s feel this way?
Head to head against the 325iS, this one feels like it will take it from 3rd gear. Maybe one day we will try it.

Sooooo

M20 vs M30? m30 because torque.

Mtech1 vs Mtech 2? tough one. ill take tech 2

BMW SA vs Alpina? a rare 155kw tech 2 vs a rare 145kw M30 tech 1?toss a coin.

Style 5s vs Alpina 16s? another tough one. Alpina.

Tone? M20 all day

Extras? Alpina- vent gauge ftw.

Colour? Henna. a white tech 2 would be a winner.

Beautiful collection !

Confused though as my SA 333i number 149 does not run a B6 3.5 ????

My spec is:

Engine Displacement Power Torque Redline Bore Stroke Year
M30B32 3.2 L (3210 cc/195 in³) 145 kW (197 hp) @ 5500 285 N·m (210 ft·lbf) @ 4300 mm mm 1986

i just googled the B6 3.5's specs now, so its a modified m30 whereas the 333i has a stock m30. sorry i always thought they were the same apart from the 733i/533i engines that were used in the 333i.

what colour is your 333i? this one is number 151

Your cars look A1; I am heading down your way at the end of the month; at Zwartkops and Killarney at the Intl Race meetings. Doesn't look as though I have a drive this year- but looking forward to the weather and the usual! pic shows my 91 H26 Hartge. Will you/your cars be at either race meeting?Image
