While I would really prefer to get an M-tech steering wheel, the price puts it a little bit into the 'would be nice but not likely' bracket.
So I've been looking at aftermarket options but wondered whether the deep dish steering wheels fit the driving position better than the flat ones, has anyone tried both or have one or the other? If so why did you pick the one you did?
If its relevant I am 6ft with 'normal' 325i seats and 4 spoke steering wheel currently, any advice would be appreciated.
cheers!

I have a deep dish but but I need it to bring the wheel closer to me as with a floor mount pedal box, I need to sit further back. The most noticeable difference is that first couple of times you go for the indicator stalk, you'll miss
The 3 spoke SE type goes for about £50 and is loads better than the horrid 4 spoke.
Next up is the 385mm Tech 1 which goes for £100, I have one of these in my Cabriolet and it really suits the car, I like it. There is a 385mm Tech 2 also but I had one and in an E30 it's like a bus wheel, again around £100. Small Tech 2's (370mm) start at around £150 and can fetch £250+ depending on condition.
If you are tallish, you can't see the top half of the speedo with a 370mm.
I have a 370mm Tech 3 Suede M3 wheel in my saloon.

Is that not for an E36 only?paultv wrote:are you talking about this sort of thing?

That won't fit an E30. Many people have been fooled by sellers branding E36 wheels as compatible with E30s bu they have a different spline pattern and won't fit on the column. The way to tell is the horizontal spokes on the E36 variant slope slightly downwards whereas on the E30 version they are straight.
