So, I ordered a couple of items for the e24, paid and they arrived fairly quickly

The items were rear shelf / speaker covers. The description said one had minor surface corrosion. This would be under the vinyl covering where the speaker mounts

Ok, it's not a visable area and I can alway clean it up can't i......

This is what turned up

Surface corrosion ? The metal is that bad it's broken away !!

Sent them an email expressing my concerns, didn't ask for anything in terms of a refund in the initial email

My email ”¦.................

Hi

Order received today, thank you

However upon inspection or the items one of them has quite bad corrosion.

It can be dealt with and as it on the underside it's hidden but it's not ideal

I've attached photos

Their reply.........

Hi Kos

We did advise this in our listing. At the bottom of every picture is a description of any defects when we receive the items in. Thuis is what it stated: -

Slight corrosion on grid on the inside.

Picture is of actual part type in stock. Most parts are supplied in genuine BMW & Mini packaging.

We did inspect and it does not effect the top view o f the part.

Kind regards

They did offer a refund in a follow up email but the problem for me is as follows. I needed them and didn't want to wait for a back order from Germany to arrive which can take 10 days. Trim shop needed them by Saturday.

What really annoyed me was as follows

1-poor description
2-no apology
3-very dismissive

The apology only came after I promoted them. The email exchange continued and I will publish it just so everything is out in the open

The point is, if you do use them make sure you get clear photos of the parts you order because if it's not as expected, don't expect any help from them let alone an apology.

I for one will not be using them again.

I take your point, but I'd say when buying items that are described as damaged in some way,be prepared to be disappointed with a 50/50 chance of a decent outcome.
I'd say don't use them for buying known damaged goods, rather than don't use them full stop.

When businesses are selling old parts. its a gamble on both sides. Seller often cannot supply goods as new, buyer cannot expect goods as new. If you sell you do what you can with what you have. Most times, thats ok, but sometimes it isn't. If things go wrong, on the sellers part this is a new opportunity to buy loyalty, and good faith. Just say sorry, full refund etc, and all is normally well. This company hasn't done this, and now earns the publicity that the net gives. Being "buyer beware" all the time is not good enough. A sucessful business needs to know how to repair ts business.

I seem to remember pacerpete having similar issues with them some time ago as well, don't think he got such a successful outcome though.

I've only every used them of new parts, however the last couple of times I've wanted something I've never had a response to my price request, so I don't bother with them any more.

There's a difference to "slight corrosion" and actual rot! That's rotted away.

I'd take the refund Kos and wait for the back order. Just think of the car it's going in? What's 10 days in the scheme of things when the difference is brand new an what you have there?

Or can they supy another pair that are as described?

There are new but old stock

Description was misleading, the seller (he's no doubt on here) knows that the description doesn't match what's arrived. A simple apology would have gone a long way in terms of service recovery

They're are the trimmers now so that's that

i got an online quote with royal mail for parts to slovenia that i never had on any shipping at all but the munter just bids anyway and me being me gets a quote from royal mail for him which comes back at £19 so i charge £21 to include the £1.90 ebay 10% charge on postage leaving out the paypal and packaging fees .

anyhoo when the mrs takes it to the p/o she is charged £9 ... the buyer gets his parts with the r/m stamp on stating £12 .... he the questions upon delivery price so i explain that the total was actually around £16 with ebay fees, paypal and packaging and that leaves £5 that i will refund ... in his messages were pure snotty and that i am a thief and if he had not messaged me i would of stolen the huge amount of 5 gbp sterling :D

i then tell him he can send the parts back and i will give him a full refund then he can go and ask BMW for some new parts

he accepts the refund then leaves me bad feedback , i contact ebay and all is sorted .

Sending overseas is for mugs Mick. Avoid it and don't get drawn in. Adjust your settings to exclude postal locations you can't be arsed to deal with. i.e If it ain't got a UK postcode, it ain't being sent!

Amen to that.

I get it all the time. "Will u send to xxxxxxx"

I certainly will. Outside of Ebay, Paypal F&F or bank transfer.

They rarely do though. They can't scam you that way.

I get it all the time too, where they even offer to pay paypal fees so they can have paypal g'tee. When I refuse, they ask how else can they be sure? Answer is not at my expense. Paypal/Ebay g'tee is no g'tee at all, just some faceless coonts who refund money from my account to theirs.
