I'm trying to get my car to be a rough replica of a 325 sport, it is a 316 at the moment, it has sport checkered interior, 370mm tech 2 wheel, black sport headlining, obc, dechrome shadow trim, next on my list is a tech 2 kit, and I've got some genuine 16" bbs rs' to go on it aswell. Before you say 'just buy a sport' or 'you need an m20' I can't insure one at the moment, and it's my car and this is what I want to do, the shell is clean and solid anyway

I will when I'm home, they are all split down for a refurb, and I'm getting Radinox dishes aswell and nope they are rs 243's which are honda fitment 4x114.3 and I have some good quality h and r adapters for them, these are a good size because none of the bolts over lap with the 4x100, and I don't think they did these are out of a 318is, but they are literally perfect condition with no wear whatsoever and no rips so they are staying haha

I know you say you can't insure a Sport, but just out of interest, what would it cost to insure, versus the money you're spending on the 316i, it's not a dig, i'm genuinely interested.

Don't forget to add the £4K+ cost of buying a half decent sport.

The main one is the black headlining, most don't bother. Sounds like you are most of the way there and have a nice car on yours hands. In the mean time I would be building a stroked m20 to stick in when you can insure it 8)

What pisses me off is the cost of insuring an essentially unmodified 325 rep (a m20'd 316) is double the cost of insuring a car born as a 325. Even more stupid is it costs less if the car started as a 320 - the cost is in the power gain over standard. Regardless of the fact that it is a rep of a standard production car they'd insure for peanuts :x

It's annoying about insurance but I can't do much about it really, and yeah headlining is already in, I would but don't have a clue about engines

+1 on want Ross said. Build yourself a decent car based on the 316 and save some pennies for building a proper engine for when insurance allows :D

I found it the other way - I used to have a 318i touring to which I fitted a 325i donk, gearbox, LSD etc etc and it was cheaper to insure than a touring born as a 325i

The way I look at it is that my car is solid and I'd have to spend silly money to get a sport as clean as my car is

My other option is stick it back on bottle tops and take the is interior out and wait for a nice 318is to pop up
