This week has been my first week off in 13 months of motor trade shenanigans so i decided to make the most of it and get my car painted. Been playing away all week getting the tech 2 kit fitted and prepping etc but last night me and a couple friends were slaving away til the early hours getting it ready for todays dose of colour.
The only thing left to do is get this bastard replica front bumper to fit. I couldnt find a genuine one.
Il get more photos up later

Definitely looking forward to seeing this painted Euan. Take your time and I'm sure it'll be fine.

Euan are you spraying above a dirt floor?! That's going to leave a f00king lovely finish!

Why have you masked stuff up instead of removing like the windows, the door handles and locks, the petrol flap, the side skirts etc.
What a waste of paint.

Lol, I nearly got banned from a forum years ago for suggesting someone who posted pics of their respray should have removed their number plates and side repeaters as it would have been quicker than masking them up. They worked in a body shop too apparently

cheers,

It really would be worth putting the car on a clean surface, a B&Q tarpaulin would be a start at least, as as soon you start spraying you gun will disturb all the dust on the floor and blow it on to the paint.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity

Also take your front wings off, the side skirts, the bumper clips, the bumper reinforcement and pull your boot lid off so you can spray it at the angle it will sit at on the car at a minimum.
No point rushing it or you will hate how gash it is. If it was me I would have the interior out, doors off, all the windows out and the engine out to shoot the bay. Nothing screams half arsed to me like when you see a car with different colour door shuts and bay.
Good luck, there is a reason good body work costs big money

Even a banger racer wouldn't paint his car on a floor like that

As others have said, deal with that floor first. Cover it up, then douse it with water. De-nibbing is a massive ballache at the best of times.
Spray from the top down. When you're leaning over to do the roof you don't want your paint-clothes touching already wet paint lower down the car.
Have you get the pressure too high? It looks like you're getting a blotchy spray rather than a nice even mist.
And really, strip as much as you can. Those door handles are only held on with two screws.

Removing the front and rear windscreen for a DIY job in a dusty shed is hardly worth it

Im not that fucking dodgy, door bonnet and boot checks have all been done, including under the doors. I only really wanted to get all the checks done and then i had left over so i just thought id see what it would look like on, im going to do my best tomorrow to assess the floor and get the spray sorted cos it is a bit uneven

At least damp down the floor, to prevent dust from being blown up, being careful not to splash water on the bodywork, of course.

WTF?
Both screens take a couple of minutes to take out dude amp 5 mid to put back in with a £5 tool off eBay.
Seriously, why waste time and money on a complete lash up?

Colours a very personal thing ... why youve gone for water based paint though ill never know it doesnt have the life of solvent basecoat and is tricky to get a nice even base without being in the right conditions.

We have all known Verde for some time now. In this time, he has never taken advice, so what makes you think you can change him now?

For what it's worth I have a windscreen tool as in the first link ( which is that old it has a wooden handle ) which you push around the screen . The tool in the last link it looks like you pull it which to me just seems awkward to me especially around corners .
