i suspect they'll be quite a few for some, but whats the car you missed out on that you kick yourself over

mine is a rare BMW 2002 tii turbo (unsure of the colour but it looked lime green!) - it was sat on a driveway for a number of years and i drove past it a few times, i kept meaning to go and knock on the door to find out what the story was.

i only knew it was a turbo as i was chatting to a old mechanic mate and he done some work on it years earlier

anyway, the day i go to find out about it the car had gone and the house also demolished  no idea what ever happened to the car. I hope someone restored it rather than scraping it if they didnt know what it was

that's the one that i regret the most, i may never have ended up with it but its one i always wonder "what if"

what's yours?

i think this was a cheap car..i had a good look around it and it's begging for a z-tech or at least a 2.0/2.1 pinto

Image

it sold within a couple of hours..i was very very tempted having owned many of these and converted them all from x-flow into street weapons.

can't part with the e30 though it's just soo much more refined :D

I very nearly bought a Mk2 Jaguar 3.8 Manual Overdrive, in the classic British Racing Green with chrome wire wheels, but the owner was French and changed their mind on the deal, so I bought a flat instead - arguably, a better investment; goodness only knows how many ££££ the Jag would have cost me by now! :)

My last Asscart cost £40 in 2005 (iirc) It was a 1 family owned white 1.1 popular with sub 50k. It was truly horrid, as they all are. Everett and I wound the sorry cooont up to nigh on 90 on the way to the Guildford cruise on the way back from collecting it. (I had already prepared a for sale sign :) ) It was like being in a cement mixer !

Eventually it got sold to some Paddys for £650 or there abouts but only after i had a procession of indigenous tatted Ford scum jacking it up and poking about " I'll have to think about it mate, it needs some welding " being their usual line. Scum . They are probably still looking !

Mine would have to be a Mitsubishi gto 3000 that was at a local garage. It was a jap import with a much deeper electronic body kit. It was a twin turbo and allegedly 570 horses under the hood.

I took it for a test drive and loved it. I decided to check out if I could get it fixed being an import. Unfortunately in the process of finding a garage some git got there first.

Gutted is simply not the word. I ended up getting a crap chair Leon which was nothing but trouble.

You had a close call ! GTOs are particularly crap which is why they are valued by the KG . As for the 570 BHP , at the spare wheel maybe :)

Ah I've been told that many times. I bloody loved the thing though. As for the 570 horse. I didn't believe it either. Mind you it was very very quick and I did get through £20 worth of juice in a half hour test drive. This was when fuel was 80p a litre too

A solid E30 M3 when I got back into E30s 5 years ago. Would've helped offset the 30 large of negative equity I'm in after buying a flat about 6 months earlier and I would've had a lot of fun in the process.

A very nice '78 Shadow 2 in Nutmeg with Magnolia everflex I got offered before the guy traded it for a new C class at Rose and Young in 1998 :? it wasn't perfect but could have been.

If bought though, I'd no longer be married I was informed at the time (and therefore my daughter would not be here either) So it was the right decision in some ways. :(

The e30 would never have happened either I guess.

Not got one specific car but I am kicking myself for not buying a Sierra Sapphire Cosworth in the late 90's when insurance was getting sensible and you could buy a usable one for £3k and an unmolested nice one for £5k :(

Still kicking myself over a dark green E34 525i touring that was a proper minter a couple years ago

This car should have been up for sale for 1500+ but due to the guy having been messed around twice and needing it gone it was up for 99p.

It was buy it now for 750 but dad convinced me to be a jew and try and win it and save money, long story short I bid 550 quid for it but some absolute bastard beat me by something like £1 seconds before the end. I was so angry i booted the computer and didnt go on ebay for weeks.

When i finally swallowed defeat I logged onto ebay again, i had a message from the seller stating the winner hadnt contacted him and hed like to sell it to me for the price I offered. Ofcourse when i replied it was too late and the chariot was gone :(

Back in the day, many moons ago. I was saving for a decent E30, i managed to save enough for a sport and had my eye on a sterling silver Tech 2 that was for sale. I convinced myself it was the one for me, before i done the deal i met this bird and the nookie was great! She pursueded me ( very persuasive) to take her on holiday instead (great time was had). When we got back the car was sold and i was kind of skint! F__king Bi#ch!

I think mine is the most tragic (although not a car). I got offered something for free.

A lovely Moto Guzzi V7

Old fella called in when I was with the e30, swearing at it as usual.

I thought he was going to offer me scrap money for the car but instead started talking about how nice it was too see a young lad restoring something.

Then he said he collects old bikes, he has this moto guzzi v7 sitting he bought for his son but his son didn't want it. Would I like it to restore.

Said no, he was very generous but I don't have a bike license and my hands are full with the e30.

By the time I checked the value of the bike he had it sold

Not me personally but my brother never pursued 2 e30 M3's. one was a rough dog in black somewhere in West Midlands that the owner wanted £2500
Second one destroyed me, Macau blue rhd converted M3 I think on an F plate. Looked soo immaculate. A female carer who used to visit someone on the street in leicester, offered it for £5000. I felt extremely crap about that not being bought.

Before I bought my M3, I looked at a few other potential candidates...

The two that I regret not having bought were a Porsche 924 Carerra GT...a nice LHD genuine car that a chap had bought in order to use to make fibregalss moulds to build a replica racing car and the GT was surplus to requirements.
I thought, at the time, that £8k was a bit much for it, so turned it down after a lot of heartache...

I also turned down a genuine 1st generation (first batch) BBR Turbo MX5...needed a bit of TLC, but was a steal at £2k
1987 Henna Rot M3 (was 195bhp CAT..now more and no cat)
2001 E46 330i SE Touring (manual)

i had two like that when i was 17 just passed my test, saw a really mint red mk2 rs2000 £900, I ended up a few years later buying one anyway.

A tickford kitted capri with turbo Technics conversion £600. both cars my old man refused to let me purchase on the basis id be corked within a week, so i ended up with a mini 1000 that cost £150 which i blew up
