My insurance for the M3 last year was £236 with Lancaster, I came home today and found the renewal to be £588 8O

It's a classic policy with guaranteed value, 27yr old girlfriend as named driver, break down cover, European cover, £50 excess etc.....

I rang Lancaster and they are now saying that the E30 M3 has increased in the grouping :?

So for the M3 owners, who are you insured with and how much roughly are you paying.

TIA :D

The insurance grouping system has been overhauled this year, on top of that the market has generally risen which would explain the extra cost.

The insurance on my Alpina was renewed in Novemeber and it came in at £120 a year full comp , and this was with Lancaster. I do know the underwriter has changed wich could be the reason for the jump in price. I got some quotes for e36 M3's and Alpina's and they were comming in at over £1000 a year , which is a good £450 more than when I checked 2 years ago.

The insurance on my sport was the same this year as it was last year -£201 with the above details as the M3.

The classic car policies don't seem to get affected like the normal car policy.

Just redone mine on my Sport Evo, reneal notice was £564, limited milage of 1500 per year and agreed val. Spoke to another broker got down to £430. Went back to existing broker Footman James and they reduced to approx same figure. 2 phone calls and save £100 plus.

Might be worth giving them a call

Group 17??? thats nothing, they go upto approx 50 now. Its all changed.

gestimate of around group 33-38. an E36 328is group 33, so i am guessing possibly slightly higher on the M3.

The lowest price I've got so far is £359 with Adrian Flux, some companies don't want to know anymore.

I was insured by Allianz through Lancaster and they don't want the E30 M3 on their books anymore.

Cheers.

Footman James came back at £438.68 and they texted me saying that they could improve the quote.

This is what I was finding the other day when I was doing quotes. At one point they came back with a quote of £1600 for me.

Cheers Jason.

I thought I was going mad but it seems the course now.

My M3 is utterly standard with no mods what so ever, if I can get it to £300 then I'll be slightly happier.

Must be, spoke to one insurance company and the reply was that the insuarnce companies are running at a loss and even some companies are going under because of it.

I'll be getting bum raped this year then cos I've got 4 cars, bastards !

I said the same, over the bad winter periods none of my cars were out and I made other arrangements to travel ie bus etc.

Why should I pay for some spastic who doesn't know how to drive in the icy conditions and treat their commute to work as a destruction derby

I just renewed the insurance on my M3 vert on Tuesday just gone....came to £274-84 fully comp with european breakdown cover...I'm with Carole Nash(who underwrite it by Chaucers)....my insurance renewal did go up but when I called them to ask why, they told me that it was becasue I had my wife on the policy and she is 27 as well.....so I removed her name as she does not drive the M3 being LHD and my renewal cost came right down 8) may be worth checking it out and I do have an agreed value on the M3.
