right, i saw in the forum that someone got quoted £200+ for a set of HT leads for his 320i from BMW dealership, well, went to halfords the other week, and got a few quotes, one for a 80amp alternator (this is for a 325i cab auto 1987) and it was something like £160 and would have to give them my old alternator too, GSF???? 65 quid, bargin. also asked for a radiator and they said £700+, not a joke either, go ask them, GSF???? £127.50, halfords are a complete joke 8O

Far cheaper than having the braking system rebuilt as a result of screenwash fluid in the brake reservoir! I haven't actually come across this, but I've been faced will radiators topped up with engine oil, and engines literally filled with oil right up to the filler neck!

Similar experience with a job motor. Realise a brake light is out while on the road. Phone the boss, can he find brake light bulbs? No
Have I got time to take the motor back and swap it? No
If I buy some bulbs from Halfrauds, can I claim me cash back? Yes, no problem

Following a spirited drive to Halfrauds before they shut, the young lad tells me that "that vehicle is right on the border of a change and could be one of two sets of brake light bulbs, dont worry, we'll grab both and go out and try them"

Ahhh good lad, some great customer service there I think. The first set he tries are the right one. Job done. Go back in to pay...... the sod charges me £3 for fitting as well as the cost of the bulbs!!! Even though I told him I could fit the damn things myself.

I woulda refused to pay, but instead claimed it back off the firm! Cheeky sod. Now whenever I want bits from Halfrauds I only speak to one of my two mates who work there!

Halfords qualified tech! That little qoute there always makes me laugh.. Because they know next to nothing yet act as if they know every car out there.. I bought some paint to spray the kidney grills on the e30 & bloke at the till starts lecturing me on how the paint im using wont stick and will crack & peel off.. I asked him how he knew all this & his reply was ' yes im a trained body sprayer'.. My exact reply was 'what the f**k u doing working here mate?' to which he had no reply! Twit!

By the way, a year later, the grills are still in perfect nick
