I'm away at the mo but will post pics up on the weekend.
They also have the correct vinyl/rubber piping running around the edges, not the stitched crap on cheapo ones.

Cheers Ratch
They're similar to mine but not quite. The 'locking' section on mine is an oval hole with a crimped metal insert. They also only lock on the drivers mat. Also the edging on mine is a sort of looped stitching. They certainly look about the same quality as yours though
Mine have only worn out under the drivers heel after 20+ years and 188k miles, and then only as a result of an unnoticed clutch m/c leak soaking the mat.

I will be on the phone to BMW Park lane tomorrow to see what the coo is but i have found out this so far,
41001979078 M3 shell, unit price £3992.45
41001942094 Pre sept '87 2dr shell (chomie), unit price £2903.31
41001966981 Post sept '87 2dr shell (facelift), unit price £1019.88
That is very cheap.
Body shell = chassis right.
I got the details on the shells that im interested in but for the others just get a part number off realoem and phone your local dealer.
All of the above shells are NON SUNROOF but for sun roof versions they were approx £200 more.
The price and all plus VAT and most likely wont be the price if/when they are reproduced.
I also read today that should be feasable to build a complete car from new parts but the cost of this meant that a 2002 would be into 6 figures!

I would be very interested in floor mats, door cards etc.
how do we get BMW to make all the important bits and get organised about all this rather than wishful thinking????

impossible to say it's solid without stripping it down to nothing, rust hides everywhere on theseilikeredcars wrote:e301988325i wrote:new body shell for £1.2K, 2 dr with sunroof, cash waiting.

I'm pretty sure an original brand new shell from BMW would come stamped with a VIN wouldn't it?

I would think so, when ordering the shell you might have to give them your vin/ V5 details ?E30BeemerLad wrote:I'm pretty sure an original brand new shell from BMW would come stamped with a VIN wouldn't it?

I don't think that would be very wise of BMW because if you think about it two cars with same VIN number would equal two same cars one you could sell and the other you can keep. Not a good idea maybe they will stamp a new VIN

This opportunity going ahead would mean that older original production line cars will drop value, at least you will be able to buy a rust free retro E30 and be the 1st owner tooJim320i wrote:If they did, surely it would be stamped with a new vin number?
Put me on the list for a new shell and let everyone else know so we have enough for BMW to get started

Oh and there is a well known forum members car that was reshelled in the late 90's with a brand new shell.
No VIN number stamped into the scuttle where is should be or anywhere else on the shell for that matter.
