the thing that ive noticed about new people that come on here (not saying im a veteran or owt) but they seem to try and get there post count up as high as possible in the first couple of weeks to get there "stripes", so to speak (i.e. a camper, squater et al) which usually involves pointless posts. personally i think the "ranking" system has its flaws.
still a great forum none-the-less

i agree with you completly mate, im not suggesting everyone does it just a fair few, theres been a couple of peeps that have done a 1000 post in a week or two, and that doesnt suggest that there experts either. but you must agree, you do get some really pointless replies though

See my view on this is slightly different. As much as the forum is an excellent place for seeking info and offering advise it is also a way of bringing fans of the E30 together. I'm no boffin when it comes to the technical side of them but I'm willing to learn. The thing I've liked since joining is meeting the people I've talked to. There needs to be a `garbage' section for people without technical skills and knowledge to still comunicate with others without stepping on peoples toes in technical threads etc.

I understand peoples views on 'post hoaring' and the 'Look at my post count' attitudes and totally agree. I like having normal 'non E30' chats with the likes of Dazzle, Sjoerd, Neil etc coz it makes you realise it's not just about the car but also the people who love the car..

sorry if this is a repetition or doesn't make sense..

I have to agree with Tylerma. I've just joined these forums recently and I feel its not totally friendly. There are some good members on here who help you out and then there's some who slate you. Example when I first posted up pics of my car, everyone who viewed the topic decided to say very negative things about my car, yeah fair enough its not everybody's taste but some people I feel were just a bit rude, and everyone seemed to have the impression that I did all the work on my car when in fact I bought it how it was, and I've changed a few things to stop making the car looking so Lax Power as I didn't like some of the stuff on it. I'm a member of UnitedBimmer BMW club and I think there a lot more friendly over there than here. Nothing against this forum as I think its a cool one but its let down by those who think having a slating match will make them feel real big about themselves when in fact its the opposite.

I agree. There are a lot of 'agressive' people on this forum which does put alot of people of. I dont rise to peoples opinions of my car as I like it and that's all that matters to me

Surely it is easier for people to keep non constructive comments to themselves. If you look through each area of this forum I think you'll find this sort of conversation is going on.

PS. your car looks cool and I'd gladly swap it with mine !!!!

I think a lot of people are more concerned with their post count and see slating people as a good way to boost the figures

hate to do it but i got to agree with you there

personaly i dont like the body kitted up stuff it looks crap in my opinion but i can apreciate the amount f work involved if its done properly.

but complaining when someone says something negative about how your car looks is petty. Surely everyone is entitled to voicean opinion onthings and if your posting topics like what do you think of this etc then you have to accept the negatives along with the positives.

Just my view here im not looking to upset people or start an slanging match.

I have been on here since the new forum was launched, it has grown amazingly in that time, I started out here knowing very little about e30s other than how to take them apart :) Since then I feel I have gained a fairly substantial amount of information about the e30, m20, m10, s14 blah etc all the assorted BMW things that go along with it, mostly due to the Zone. Where was I going with this.. ah yes, recently it has become a little hostile but it is down to a few poeple, always the minority stirring up trouble. Overall though this is a bloody good forum compared to some of the other car forums out there nevermind a gaming forum, they are 90% off the chart keyboard warriors..

As most poeple coming onto the forum have just bought an e30 or are thinking of it, a lot of them do infact have technical questions about the car, only natural as you want to know what to look out for, I also think there should be a Newbie section that covers all the basic/common faults/service issues. I dunno how many topics have been titled 'Rear Subframe' and yes ok they should search 1st, but that is't the nature of humans, it's easier just to ask than go looking, I mean how long do you walk round B&Q hunting for some obscure fitting before you will actually ask someone :D I always try to answer people's Technical questions if I have any idea about it, and sometimes I will go off and look to see if I can even find any info on it. Only because I when I joined, you lot did the same for me.

Tis a great place, don't let the idiots ruin it, as a friend of mine often says:

ok let me give you a few quotes from people when they commented, make a negative comment but dont try and diss people because of their ride.:

Its mad how nice ur car could look by takin some bits off. I know the kind of guy u are tho money burns a hole in ur pocket and because of this u buy shady products i.e. lexus real clusters. even lexus have dropped them for the new is200. because they are ass in a packet. i think uve seen the error of ur ways now tho and never ever ever put a neon within three miles of that car. lol
Waste of time comments in my opinion and not really worth saying but obviously these posters above thought so.

If your gonna comment say something constructive, some of the comments on Artis's Pick up Truck E30 BM were just totally immature. Yes people ain't gonna like lairy bodykits and each to their own as they say as what Simon13 just said, its not slating someone with what he said to regards to my car as to what he said wasn't directly said personally, do you see what I mean?

Just read this post and got to be honest..........ever heard of OMNIPRESENCE ? i was thinking the same flippin thing this morning and was gonna do this thread myself.
Well ive been a member of the Zone(old +revamped) for 2yrs(when i was in the war.......) although i did loose my post count on changeover hence my small post count.
In the last 2 years i have seen a decline in the usual banter we used to have with fellow old timers(members) and do miss reading the jargon posted. When i first joined we had Lizzy and Bharat posting as often as every night and not mention a list of others, you know who you are guys !
This is still the best E30 Forum around guys, you know you cant live without it , you get home from work, turn on the PC, click on favourites, click on THE ZONE anfd your there for hours, and thats EVERY NIGHT.
Just take the rough(posts) with the smooth and let the Mods sort it out (or the rockers) he he !.
Lets keep the Zone alive guys.

NUFF said and a few canz a STEllA to put the world to rights.

Peace out Zoners. :thumb:
