At a guess you either have a problem with your exhaust and its catching on something or your rear subframe bushes have given up.

Get behind the car, grab the exhaust and shake it from side to side. If you get a knock from it or it seems really wobbly then the chances are you have broken rubbers or a broken exhaust mount.

If this doesn't make any noise then get it to a garage or find a friendly mechanic and get them to have a look at the rear subframe bushes, just in front of the rear wheels.

Genuine ones are £50 from the dealers for the pair and well worth the money imo

I'm with Dazleeds on this one. Mine was exactly the same and it was worn top mounts.

top mounts is always a safe bet, though there fairly obvious when there gone, and as he said, its been checked over.

the exhaust tends to look fine but clunk when driving.

and i just noticed how bad the spelling is, may i suggest (with no malice intended, i have issues myself) that you take some time to improve it as good literacy will help you the most in life, more than anything else.
also try using the spell check function in some of the new web browsers, wont help with everything but dose tell you when your wrong and gives you the correct spelling, which means you re learn things with out trying, it helps no end.

As long as all the correct rubbers, clips etc are in place, the exhaust should be fine shouldn't it?

Oh, and sorry to be a pedant but it's 'does' not 'dose'.

lol, good spot, i guess thats my point proven then.

one of my rubbers was fine, one was shot, that was enough to make the thing knock, combined with the monkey that fitted the exhaust before i got the car fitting the clamps a little wrong.

dosent seem to be a lot of clearance between the spare wheel tub and the clamp/bracket bolts.

Agreed, but by the same token....it doesn't take much wear for the 'top mounts' to knock either. Moreover, the wear is not that easy to spot (just at a quick check I mean). It took Random Dave (my hero) at Fritz Bits to spot it and replace them.
