I was going to get my struts powder coated but decided to try the hamerite smooth satin black, i was very pleased with the results.

They do look good, but still kind of gloss? Shiney inlet manifold just wouldnt look right IMO, ive got a can of that hammerite satin black for a test

That was with 3 coats, should have stopped at 2 as they were a little more satin looking. Still for the price cant grumble. :D

I have been cleaning the M50 block today and gave it lick of paint. Looks gray in the pics cos of the light Dan but its black in person. The can is in the second pic mate

I have a sand/media blaster too its friggin awesome until my tiny air compressor tank runs out every few minutes. Going to do my whole car next :twisted:

Your powder coater looks the business, good ones are hard to find. Got any details on the adjustable kit?

They're supposed to fill threads and holes etc with a special wax. Otherwise you have to ream it / brush it out.

They use heat proof take to mask anything off that doesn't was coating. :D

Wax? Sounds messy to me, aluminium tape is what they usually use.

Ok so its only took me 3 months but thanks to Dezzy donating his last can of Simoniz the inlet is now painted :D
In the end I bought a new blasting gun as a new nozzle for the old one cost nearly twice as much :mad:

It looks slightly glossy in the pics but it still hasnt dried properly, apparently if you bake it at 200° for 90 minutes it will withstand solvents/oils and temps up to 300°C
My airing cupboard doesnt get quite that hot but I imagine it will be dry enough after a few days :)
