Due to very stressful current financial situations..I am thinking of selling my e30 - otherwise I'd never let her go!

I've been trying to do a 'mod a month' trying to get it up to speed and ready for meets etc, but other commitments are taking priority..namely marriage!

Here are the +ives which are making me hang on to her

*Pre-facelift 325i coupe - higher comp engine along with being an auto which as a combo i really prefer!
*103k on the engine which had £1k worth of work done to it - tappets worked on etc - rec'pts to prove it!
*really good condition black sport recaro leather interior i managed to source from the zone...i sit in it atleast twice a week just admiring!

Along with minor things I have done to it [map light mirror, leather gearknob, reconditioned tech 1 steering wheel], I've also got hold of a e46 steering rack from a 320cd m sport.

Now, I really do not want to sell..but i really need the cash at the moment. I suppose i could always buy another, but this one has moulded a place in me 'eart...I've only driven it 200 miles or so but I really do like the feel of this one..I doubt i will come across another like her..dang i must sound pretty sad!!

What do you guys think i should do??

why have you driven it soo little?
i would use it as a daily, then youll apreciate the car more and wont have a lump of money sitting in the garage, these are more than capable cars in every day life!

^I would love to drive it daily!

I simply haven't had the time to do little things such as the link rod replacement [got a new set sitting there!] due to work and other stuff..I've taken the grill out to replace also.

The car is a full on chromie and i initially wanted to shadowline/drop/tech1 kit/bbs rs? etc bla bla..but after becoming an avid zone lurker, I've learnt maybe another example would be a better route to go down if I'm thinking of such mods. If anyone is after a diamond swartz chromie 325 coupe - try and convince me to sell this to you!!!

Its like a yoyo at the moment..I'll want to sell it one minute, and wouldn't even dream of it the next!

hmm any pic's? to be honest if shes a solid one keep her and do what you want to it ie tech1 kit extra.. at the end of the day these are bolt on items which can easily be reversed if need be. just my thoughts on this. but entirely up to you. if you do consider selling i wouldnt mind seeing the pics as id love a solid pre facelift

Never sell a car you really like because of a Woman !

I sold my beautiful rust-free 2.8i Special Capri to use the money towards the deposit on a house with my ex - we split up a few weeks later !

I'd never have sold it otherwise and it would be worth a lot more now than I sold it for

Im at work at the mo..I'll upload some when i get home!

Thinking about it, I'v barely done 100 miles on her since purchase [April this year] and loved every inch of them!

I have alot planned, but it maybe financially viable for me to find a tech 1 and take it from there!

Don't be silly, use the money you would use for a fancy wedding car on fixing the E30 and use that instead.

I hear you on the high comp auto setup too. Mines brilliant

I know what you mean about wanting to sell one minute and then keeping it another but by the sounds of it you like the car and if its in good condition then keep it and take your time with the mod's, like you said just do a little something to your car once a month and after a while it will be your dream car.

If your anything like me you will get frustrated if you cant do all your mod's/repairs at once :D

ive got a tech1 and its needing to go into the operating table for welding.. if you have a solid shell keep it and thats my honest opinion. i regret selling my rust free 316 chromie. as it was trully solid. as said the options your thinking can be reversed if need be

Ahh

Somone who hasn't grilled me for loving the switchable sports slushbox!

I don't plan to race or trackday the car...it would be an 80's cruiser for me

I really like the car! I love the fact most of my friends would generalise it as a banger...but as soon as they sit inside it and have a spin - they see the wolf undress from the sheep costume!

So far the things I have planned on my 'to-do' list;

*De-chrome to a tech1 kit and shadowline
*full refresh of the bodywork [dings and dents here n there] + re-spray in diamond swartz
*whole suspension set up - springs, coilovers the works

And then once the car is on road fully functional - I'm looking to supercharge it

Seems like an uphill battle at the mo..but I am determined!!! I initially wanted an e21 but could not let this e30 pass me!

I don't understand why you are not driving it right now... .you don't need a dechrome and respray to pass an MOT! First things first - get it taxed and MOTd, then do the things you want to do in your spare time.

hes right, thats what i did with mine, got it through its mot, now doing jobs on it bit by bit, i know it can be frustrating that you cant do it all at once, i feel like that myself sometimes, but then i think no matter how long it takes me it will be worth it.

stick with it matey :D

dont take this as rude, but if you are using excuses like it raplacing the grill as an excuse not to drive it, you're never going to finish it.

sell it and buy one with what you want done?

Thats done then. Its not for sale!

I wanted to get everything done at once, so i was slowly gathering the bits and parts i wanted to have them all ready at one time..im slowly being introduced to patience with age :P

Next thing getting done is the MOT and tax. Right now I haven't been in a good position financially to be getting things done on the car, hence me considering selling it! Payday is not far away however!

Sorry for the pics...took these quickly in the last days of the summer and haven't taken any since!

that looks nice. keep it make it a long term project if need be. mines has been put on the slow cooker lately as well due to ill health, getting married, and a 3 year old. yours looks more complete than mine even if you get it taxed and tested use it as a daily and mod it while you run it.

Well...

The more I hang onto it the more the chrome is growing on me. With a re-spray and a buff up/reconditioning of the chrome trim, i think it would look pretty decent!

I am looking to drop it though, any recommended height for the pre-facelift? I want the higher arches to sit low nicely but not at the expense of comfort.

Coming to the link rods - fairly easy install? Not that i plan to do it! Beginning of next month I will try source some new brake pads/discs and have them installed with the rods - then MOT and tax!

That chrome needs to stay! I'm a touring deviant and don't like 2 doors - except black chromeys. Sports leather too! Very nice.

As for ride height... what are you after? For looks, start trawling the photo gallery but lower than 60/40 requires "Commitment" :)

How can you even contemplate selling something as lovely as that.

Get it MOT'd and start driving. Mines an 86 325i auto and is used everyday and has been for the last two months. Done over 5k miles in it and loved every one of them.

^I know! I'm looking for a coupe sport leather set in black if anyone wants to swap?

The drop - hmm..I like the way this sits, not too high at the back either

Image

Would going any lower at the back create problems?

The more people go on about it ..the more i feel like driving it! I start it up every other day get it warmed up to appreciate german heating

Any ideas on an exhaust? The one on there is fine if not a lil loud! Not sure if this is the way it originally is..

Will try and take some more pics. It just gets dark by the time i get home from work!
