I was interested in buying a 327 engine, i saw one on ebay and emailed the seller.
This was his reply.

--------

Hi, the re-build was done by a specalist garage, standard 2.5l sport engine boared out and chipped, has approx 110,000 miles on the clock but only 40,000 since re-build. Featured in fast car mag (still have the mag) gearbox also avalible. give me a call and we'll sort something.

--------

Does anybody have a rough idea what this would be worth, as when i emailed him, he wanted a offer and did not have a price in mind.

Any help. He has the invoice where the work was carried out also.

You're gonna need more info - the usual way of building a 2.7 does not involve 'boring out' as the capacity increase comes as a result of increased crank stroke on the same, 84mm, bore. If it has indeed been bored out to the new capacity, much more research is required - what pistons were used as a kick off. It would be extremely unusual for this to be the case, so if it is true, valuation is going to be a wild stab in the dark.

In the case that it has been 'stroked' in the more usual way, you'll want to know what crank was used, which pistons and rods, what else was replaced as part of the rebuild and a whole host of other questions. If the answers aren't satisfactory, the value goes down as it all becomes a bit of a gamble.

Sounds like this guy does not know what he's talking about...
You STROKE a 325 to make a 2.7.....
Right about the chip,though...
Depending on spec/quality,a 2.7 costs from about £1500 to build.
With no provenance,it's worth no more than a s/h 325 motor.
Youth is wasted on the young.
