hello there ive just recently bought my first bmw, a 1990 325 sport,
so im quite new to this game!! this may seem a silly question but
how do i tell the car ive bought is a true sport!!!? and whats the differance
from just a 325 apart from the obvious bodykit and leather trim?

don't know too much about the UK e30s. But erm, it should definetly have smileys, m-tech steering wheel and shift knob, 9 button obc, recaros, thicker swaybars, m-tech springs... right guys? lol

perhaps the number of people that turn they're head around 180 degrees to get a glimpse of its beauty?

As said, Anthracite roof lining, opening rear windows, LSD, map lights. Those are the things I would check to make sure its a sport. If you want, you can take the registration number to your local dealer and they should be able to do you a printout.

Theres an article on this site that has the full spec of a sport from 1990 :

325i Sport: RRP Ԛ£21,490 (2 Door only)
- Front vented disc brakes; rear solid disc brakes
- Anti-lock braking system
- De-chrome
- M Technic steering wheel (Style II), leather gear knob and gaiter
- M Technic sports suspension
- Spoiler equipment front, rear spoilers & side, rear skirts (Style II)
- Colour-coded door mirrors
- 5-speed sports gearbox with conventional gate pattern
- Limited-slip differential (25% lock up)
- Alloy wheels (7J x 15 Cross Spoke Style)
- BMW sports seats
- Rear centre arm-rest
- Opening side rear windows
- Velour carpeting
- Anthracite roof lining
- Check/control system
- Halogen front fog lights
- Headlight cleaning system
- Map reading lamps

As has been said before, take the last 7 digits to your dealer, and they will tell you everything you need to know.

Not a guarantee, not all sports will have it on the V5, same as the motorsport cabs, not all have motorsport on the V5.

You can apply to the DVLA to have the name on the V5 changed, I should have said it the other way around, you can get sports that have been made to look like sports, and apply to have sport added, so if it says sport on the V5, it does not guarantee it left the dealer as a sport.

100% way of finding out is ring the dealer with the last 7 digits of the chassis number, nice and simple, they can tell you what the car should be fitted with the same time then.
