Most cars now wont get to 20yrs old without being scrapped.
People say my E30 is old but it will get a lot older- their modern plastic electronic shitters will be in the breakers before most E30s.

If it was an E30 or car of that era it could easily be repaired, new cars are the reason no one wants to be a technician anymore.

People probably said all this about 1980s cars! My 39 year old 'Quality First' 1970 Morris Traveller is still running strong and sailed through its MOT a fortnight ago 8)

Its true about most 80s cars - how many mk1 astras, mk2 cavaliers, sieras, mk3 escorts do you see now?

Bet you see a lot of 80s BMWs and Golfs though...German

It’s an obvious sign that people want them; if you’ve got a good one keep it; if you’ve got a crap one sell it and buy a good one before you can no longer afford to. As I travel the country I count cars on the motorway and sometimes it takes more than 200 until I find one older than my 91 Touring. They’re good cars at an unbelievably cheap cost of ownership.
I’ve been asked if I want to sell mine, prompting the question ”“ is there a ”aCar NOT for sale”a sticker out there?

I used to get asked every now and again by random people if I was looking at selling my car, sometimes even when I was in it trying to get to work!

But since I fitted my BK's I do not get asked anymore!! :?

Is that a good thing?? >_<

Think you answered your own question there george! :snigger:

Some bloke about 5 weeks ago offered to buy mine for £400 quid despite being told I was not in the least bit interested in selling. Was a bit insulted as well, but then at the time it had no carpet in and was as filthy, so probably not looking its best.

Oi!

I'll so happen I someone asked if I was going to sell it today, while in the shop. I'm not looking to sell either but he asked how much I wanted for it. I said £2000, to see if he would see I wasn't interested. But instead he said "how about £1k?"

£1000 for a 316i??? He said he'd seen it a few months ago and it sounded sporty.. BECAUSE IT HAD NO BACKBOX!! 8O

Dude, I am not going to pretend mine is some shining nugget of amazingness in a dull e30 world, I just like to be annoying. :snigger:

Grand is decent money, should have bitten his arm off and gone got yourself a reasonable IS with the profit.

I have been a E30 owner for about a month now.

and I LOVE IT. It almost feels like you get a certain respect when your out on the road with it

It doesn't annoy me one single bit when they ask. I just take it as a compliment. All you got to say is a simple "no" which is when they normally comment and say how nice it is.

NO EXAGGERATION, but almost everytime I am out in my cab, I get asked at some point by a random if I am selling her. I remember a hot day a few weeks ago, got asked 3 or 4 times in one day.

It may be because mine is totally unmolested... just sitting nice and low with a tech2.

The interesting bit for me is who the attention comes from.

In an E30, the attention is always from young boys, in the M635 it's always older guys.

Never, ever, women...............though I bizarrely had one ask me about my trailer the other night. I left. Quickly.

I used to get this when I'd be out driving my girlfriends frenchie about..

Immaculate 88' 205 GTi.. random people would ask if they could buy it.. I would have gladly sold it to them.. they didnt know about the horrendeous oil leak, and overheating issue! My girlfriend wouldnt have been too impressed though!

Oh aye ?

Come up to Caithness and just try to pull out of a junction onto a busy road with an E30. No bugger will let you out !!

The ones I always get is...

"is it real?" Fair enugh or "That's a nice 325i"

I think to myself , no the body kit , Alpina plaque, Synter Dealer sticker , Alpina dials , Alpina wheels , Alpina register sticker on the wind screen and rear screen and the big lettering A L P I N A on my bootlid would point out what it actually is.

Alpina's are as rare as rocking horse shit in a hamsters cage in Oxford and you see I guess about 15 e30's now. What was worse the guy who asked actually had a 325i with a nice kit on it and it seemed pretty well looked after. I decided that it's best I not tell him about the zone for this missdemina.

i've been asked a few times if my sport is for sale normaly when i'm parked in town waiting for the G/F.

slightly ot i was in town the other week just sat in the car in a car park waiting for a mate when a BRAND NEW m3 parks up along side & the driver look's over at my car & i just thought to myself "here we go with the smarmy look's" how wrong was i??

he get's out walk's over to me & say's "hi mate nice looking sport you have there i ain't seen one in a good few year's bet it's a joy to drive".

i spent nearly 35min's talking to him about what i've done to it since i got it lol.

i've seen him a few time's since then & he allway's waves or if he's driving flashes his light's.
makes me smile know my "old bmw" does that to a driver of a brand new m3 :D
if it's got t*ts or wheels it's bound to be trouble...............prove me wrong.
getting oral sex off an ugly person is like rock climbing.....don't look down ;)
