316i is a bit weak, 318iS has a lot of power and will feel nice to drive, 320i are smooth but have a drink problem.

i think out of that list everyone will tell you to get the 318is

but at the end of the day its your choice just remember buy one on condition not spec

and check for rust everywhere

but if it was my choice the 320i winkeye

318is for the best all rounder and value for money.

320 for the 6-pot burble.

But your iS has trouble keeping up with me Mick... Bet John would find it's cheaper to insure a 318i Auto Touring than an iS too...

I've heard stories about your almighty touring. Didn't you keep up with an Elise/Exige at one time?

Felix79 and Law took off in pursuit of one, I caught them up again and sat behind them. Dan had his Alpina, Lawrence has Steve-E30's old Sport, so both 2.7s I think...

Dan's Alpina is a 2.5, but it's still a quick car and impressive that you caught up.

They all seem to be G or H, they were made as a test bed for the engine prior to its fitment to the E Dirty Sex.
Haven't seen any late ones on a J before.

Could have had? Try has had... Was Munky a previous owner? The first pic makes the drivers side look as dented and scuffed as a drift motor.

I would stay away from the 320. Nice motors but not much quicker than the 318 and drinks fuel at a similar rate to the 325. :D

iS has the M42 16 valve 4-pot lump to start with as opposed to the M40.
Also, rear discs, not drums, the iS front lip, and iirc black headlining.
LSD was an option, but wasn't standard. All suspension should be 325iSport spec. SE style rear spoiler.
No side skirts as standard.

320 ftw! plus if you get a 320 it will prepare you for the fuel costs of a 325(saying that i get better economy for my 325)

I have to ask................why not a 325. much better power than a 320, better economy and the 6 pot soundtrack. I don't understand why people are scared of them.
