This is probably one of the most highly asked questions here.

There are a few ways as chaos says, it all depends on your budget and how much you want out of your engine.

Heres a few that have been discussed already:

1) ETA Bottom end with 320i Head - cheapeast and easiest - Dont know what the result would be though - Could give 200bhp with the right tuning

2) ETA Crank, 325i Block, 320i Rods, Machined 325i early pistons + 325i Head - already shown it can do well over 200bhp

3) Same as No.2 but with custom high compression pistons, lightened and balanced bottom end,heavily ported head,High lift cam.... - engine capable of over 230bhp with the right tuning.

I've been wondering what an ETA bottom end is? Can someone shed some light?

e = economy

The 2.5e engine was developed to give better mpg's, the 2.7 is seriously restricted tho so you get a slow revving crusier of an engine.
When mated to the 'i' head and some 'e' rods or the 2.0i rods you get the benefit of the extra 200cc's, which has been proven to give 200bhp without that much additional tuning.
Having been in Sal's 2.7, I can vouch for it being a LOT quicker and so much more torque.....

Maybe worth doing if you end up splitting that lump if yours again.....I'll even help you as it's something I'd like to do myself one day :D
