Hi,
I did have my iS advertised for sale. However, after further investigation I think the rust is actually quite bad and I can't really sell the car. I think I'm gonna break it of all tasty/good condition bits then scrap it.
None of my local yards seem to be able to collect cars with no wheels though. Ideally I'd like to remove the suspension (H&R/Bilstein/Eibach, so worth a bit) and wheels, thus leaving me with an imobile shell.
Does anyone know a scrapyard around Milton Keynes-ish that could haul away an empty shell? If not I'll have to get the cheapest suzzy and wheels I can!
Cheers.

Slice it into useable panels, chop out the rot and keep the good bits. When you develop a rot spot on your next E30, you'll have a wealth of replacement panels to cut in ;)

Not replacing it with another E30...actually I'm not replacing it all. I've started a new job 2 miles away (as opposed to 20) so the Mrs and I don't really need 2 cars and a motorbike. Gonna be a 1 car 1 bike family.
Although, if anyone were interested, I could cut it up for repair panels for zoners?

I used to live underneath a brothel (which is kinda odd, it's actually a nice 'young professionals' kind of block)...I think my Neighbours have seen it all!
Think I'm gonna go for the grinder option, when else am I gonna get a chance to cut up a car?!

lolJust tellthe nieghbours it's only one day of noise..!!
Whilst cutting a car and putting it slowly in your household waste bin sounds entertaining for about 2 seconds...I think more realistically its a fucking pain in the backside.
Hiab the fucker.
Reminder, do not let Jhonno borrow a trailer

Give me a shout when you take these off i might well be very interested if you haven't already got a buyer...MrDazzle wrote:Ideally I'd like to remove the suspension (H&R/Bilstein/Eibach, so worth a bit) and wheels, thus leaving me with an imobile shell.

Someone I know scrapped a 4 door shell with EVERYTHING stripped off it, apparently it weighed at less than half a tonne......MrDazzle wrote:Actually...this could be an option too. How much does a 2-door shell weigh?Jhonno wrote:Normal car trailer with a solid floor, lift it on job done! (Did it last week..)

I can easily believe that....I'm probably gonna leave the engine and 'box in though, don't have a hoist to remove 'em.mr_dink wrote:Someone I know scrapped a 4 door shell with EVERYTHING stripped off it, apparently it weighed at less than half a tonne......MrDazzle wrote:Actually...this could be an option too. I can't believe the local frag yard won't take a car with no wheels on, they have to take the damn things off when they crush them up anyway.
My old man weighed about 8 cars in a few months back and had to take wheels off each of them before the hiab got hold of them.
I would call another breaker's yard.

The end of the Kos iS. Oh well.
We scrapped a destroyed E36 yesterday. Removed everything even down to the rear axle, cut the roof off with a hacksaw and then cut the shell in half accross the middle - carpet out and hacksaw through the sills/tunnel and big hammer and flat blade bolster chisel for the floor. It took me an hour to chop it into three bits and three of us lifted the remains onto a trailer. The bare shell, an M40 engine, the rear axle, front crossmember and other stuff made £125 on the scales.

Still..since you're here, which two firms are they? Tried the ones advertised in the MK News, some didn't answer and the rest don't have 'em.

I'm talking about no suspension as well though...no wheels is easy enough, they just bring any old set that will vaguely fit. A car with nothing to bolt said wheels to is a different matter innit?E30BeemerLad wrote:I can't believe the local frag yard won't take a car with no wheels on, they have to take the damn things off when they crush them up anyway.
