New cars are getting big aren't they?? Look at the size of the Clio and the Focus compared to my cab in the work car park!

The pickup above is no bigger than a new Corsa though.

I found this posted on another forum recently - it really demonstrates just how much bigger new cars are:

I returned to my Corrado one day to find a Mini parked next to it and couldn't believe how much bigger it was:

This is the craziest I think - it's not like R34s were small cars:

Whoah! There are some interesting pictures there! Especially the Skylines..

I assume that when you fill a car with airbags and impact beams and NCAP stuff, the overall size has to become bigger??

Am I right in thinking the new 1 series coupe is E30 sized? Might have to start saving...

Nowadays lots of people buy cars for their size, as for some reason people seem to think the bigger the car is, the safer it is

Yeah makes a massive headache for parking at my dad's house, used to fit the e30 behind the house (have to drive between two walls, was easy in the e30, but no chance in my bro's e36 or my vectra! has also rendered the garage useless as its too narrow!! (was built in the 1950's)

so we all squeeze onto the drive :?

3cm isn't so bad for all the safety features... how does it drive though and how much does it weigh in at?

It's the width that's the problem,my off street parking is between two brick walls at 8' 6: to allow the postie to get to the letter box without scraping his bag up the side of a car my limit is E30 width.Would love an E46..

What I dont like about new cars is that they look too fat. Older cars have much skinnier profile.

True, design restraints make most new models seem like someone has sealed up the previous model and inflated it.

I think cars these days have to be 'pedestrian friendly' which is why they are starting to all have the bulbous noses like the Peugeot 407 & the new Focus.

Looks shite I think.

If a pedestrian is stupid enough to step in front of a car, tough! At least with an E30, they would be mowed down by a nice looking car!

Do you think this car will be allowed to be sold if it was new now with its shark nose?

Nice car to be killed by though!

hot hatches arent so little anymore and when you take into account the extra weight of all the safety features a lot of them are slower than the previous model they replaced.
stuff pedestrian safety, if someones stupid enough to walk in front of me i dont want my car to crumple to absorb their impact i want it rock solid so they can bounce off with minimal damage to my car :D
