Indicator only on when in turn left position then blinks very fast. Blinks normally for turn right.
And yes, I tried the dimmer control.
Thanks

instrument cluster lights, rear lights and indicator issues
Had some time tonight to look into the fact only half of my instrument cluster lights up and also to examine the cogs on my now defunct odometer. After pulling it out and replacing the bulbs, I refitted the cluster temporarily to see if the cluster lights now worked. But got nothing, not even the ha...

Re: Alpina front bar - fit early or late E30?
It is an original Hartge valance. It is sort of bendy, certainly not plastic but I am not sure if it is fibreglass. It has been repaired many times. I ended up spending around 1000 pounds on having it stripped, repaired (many hours of trial and error to get it right) and painted last time! I would r...

Re: Alpina front bar - fit early or late E30?
The earlier metal type valance already lurks underneath! I am only considering it as the Hartge front bar I have on it has had a hard life and is virtually irreplaceable here in the Antipodes. If I can run the Alpina one (albeit on a Hartge!?) I can keep the original and proper one safe and sound! C...

Thanks for the help. Have since googled 'Alpina type 137' and have seen a pic now of how it looks and I can now see how it fits a series 1.

Alpina front bar - fit early or late E30?
Have come across this front bar for sale. The vendor isn't sure if it fits an early or late model E30, but thinks early. Looks like late to me.

Re:
Beautiful work. Love the Hartge livery on silver (in fact, I haven't yet seen a colour where the livery doesn't dramatically improve the look).
And in answer to the question above, the original colour of the Hartge sticker on the centre caps on the rims was silver.

Re: Map Light Mirror Fitting Guide
Yes, I noticed the 2002 in the avatar. A recent purchase I take it. I know a guy in Sydney who had 3 2002 Turbos, 2 2002 Tii's and an assortment of other classic 2002's, who recently had to sell most of them due to business issues. I was tempted to pick up one of the more jiucy ones myself, but when...

Re: adjustable fuel pressure regulators
Hi guys - interesting discussion. The motor is stock Hartge H23 - so some head work and cams. And yes, I use it for limited club based track work and the occasional competitive hillclimb. Very rarely used on the road as have many other cars for daily driver use. Kimbo, interested in your last post, ...

Re: Instrument cluster issues
OK, tested the sensor using a multi-meter today. Hooked the connectors of the meter up to the ends of the wires I had cut off and turned one of the wheels (as it has an lsd, both turned). The result was as suggested by Brianmoore - a pulse type of reading a few times each wheel. So on the basis of t...

No, I dont have a continuity meter. I am getting a price for both sensors and if not too much, thought I would try a new one as it can't hurt.
Appreciate any other suggestions though!

I have a mate who has just fitted one of these to his 635csi and he swears it has made a noticeable difference to responsiveness and performance. Anyone tried it or have any thoughts on how it would work on an L-jetronic M20 motor? There is a ready made adaptor available in Oz so is easy and cheap t...

Re: Instrument cluster issues
Checked the first 35cm of the wires using a test light today and both wires freely and consistently conducted current - which would suggest to me my problem isn't the wires. Loks like I need to order a new sensor and try that! Is the new type of sensor a straight swap for the older type? Thanks. David

Re: Instrument cluster issues
Looking at realoem, there appeared to be a change in speedo sensor in 9/1987.
I might solder new wires into the connectors and see if that makes a difference.
Thanks for your assistance.

Re: Instrument cluster issues
The story contiues ... In view of my fried looking circuit board, I decided to bite the bullet and purchase a tested working cluster from a breaker. Cost A$195 (over 100pounds). I have today swapped the clocks (to retain my 'Hartge' labels) over into the 'new' cluster. To my surprise, the cluster ha...

Re: Instrument cluster issues
Thanks Brian. Yes, the circuit board is corroded as a result of battery acid spill. It seems like it happened a long time ago as everything was well dry. I am thinking that between the corrosion and old and possibly cracked solder, the board is proably beyond redemption. Second hand clusters command...

I have read through all the previous posts and had a play but still dont seem to have all the answers I need. Until today, my H23 had the original si batteries. There is some evidence that they have leaked onto the circuit board. Some pics of its innards are set out below: http://i61.photobucket.com...

Re: will the e34 ever be collectable?
after 1993 the only sport model available (an offical sport that is) was the 525i as 535i sport stopped in 1992 and there was never a 540i or 530i sport. so in terms of sport models the 525i sport was the only model available in sport spec for a good 4 years! Except in North America (the 540i M-Spo...

No, haven't started it today. Too hot and doing other things (37 degrees celsius here today).
Tomorrow will be cooler so will take it for a drive then and tweak it once fully warmed up.

L-jetronic idel adjustment
Hi all, my M20B23 based Hartge H23 is idling too low - around 350rpm when warm. Interestingly, it doesnt stall, but feels rough at that level. I have searched here and can only find info on idle adjustment for motronic controlled m20's, not the L-jetronic like on mine. General searches on the net su...
