231mph M6

Meet the fastest BMW in the world. This is the M6 Hurricane CS, and thanks to a mightily tuned version of the M Division’s 5-litre V10 engine, it’ll hit 231mph. That’s 86mph more than you’ll manage in an electronically-limited regular BMW M6. The heat has been cranked up several notches by G-Power, ...

Re: X5 for Cliffybabe

Simply horrendous, although the 4.8 engine is a cracker (same as in my 550i).
Apparently, the engine was originally an Alpina engine - but, that's no excuse for Alpina badges.

Re:

I posted an answer on another forum winkeye I'd say the E34 is being dragged down by the number of ratty E34 M5's kicking about. Once they die, values will go up. Having owned or driven all 4 variants of the M5, I'd say the E34 is the best built, and best all round car. The E28 is the most fun to dr...

Re: New 760i V12

740i is the same engine as the 135i, 335i and new Z4 - it's a 3.0 twin-turbo, apparently in a different state of tune, although most 135i's and 335i's seem to make the same sort of figures on a dyno.

Twin-turbos seem to be being used in all the newer BMW set-ups.
Interesting that the power and torque are pretty similar to the new X5-M and X6-M V8's - makes you wonder why they bothered and didn't just go M7...

To be honest, the whole 'electrical nightmare' thing is a bit of a myth - you only ever hear the horror stories, rarely the people who have no major issues at all. Simple fact is any prestige car with problems is going to cost a lot of money to fix, be it a Porsche, BMW, Ferrari, whatever. The 840 p...

The offset is correct, but, IIRC the center bore is different. Can't remember which way round it is, but, I think E38 is bigger, so, you'll need hub centric rings.

Re: has anybody had a 850i??

Servicing costs of the 850 are a lot higher, as it has 2 of most things - air filters, oil filters, ecu's and so on. It is a good engine (and apparently all the V12's were built in the M factory).

Re: BMW E32 Touring

I believe BMW did have a couple of 750i E32 Tourings built, there used to be one at the factory museum - may still be there. They have all sorts of interesting cars that never reached production, like a V16 E32 7, E23 V8 (basically 2 M10 4's joined together, same as the later V12 basically being 2 6...

Re: has anybody had a 850i??

840i (or, preferably an 840Ci, with the 4.4) is just as quick, cheaper to run, lighter and sportier, plus you can get it in manual.
Only 850 I'd take over an 840 would be the CSi.
