Re: Strange light issue

Has a similar problem to what the original poster described. Turns out it was a poor connection from the headlight plug connectors to the headlights. The various plug housings had aged & crumbled. New headlight plug housings and connectors soldered into the wiring loomed fixed all that. Also worth c...

Re: Malachtgrun 320i cabrio from Australia

Minor update - while you guys are enjoying the nice weather, we have the rain down here. Which means the windscreen wipers are getting a work-out on our cold winter days. I was experiencing slow & juddering wipers when using the single sweep & intermittent functions. When things warmed up and after ...

Re: Under steering dash panel

The plastic panel from Mr Bodykits is very good - very durable and great fit. I bought an OE (cardboard) panel from the dealer before seeing the Mr Bodykits and would've bought the plastic one :( If you end-up going down the Mr Bodykits route, I'd suggest swapping across the insulation from the orig...

Nice, but perhaps you should do something about that faded protection wax/lacquer on the intake manifold... Ah yes, have often looked at that and thought I should do something about that. But once you start, the rocker cover will need doing... Then the strut towers (because it's there as well)... A...

Lovely job and this will last for years as well !! Yep, if it lasts another 30 years I am fine with that... Oh, and also forgot to mention, after 3 and a bit years, was getting a few drips of oil on the floor.  Turns out the rocker cover gasket was tired - tighten-up of the nuts didn't solve it  - ...

A very cool fix, glad you got it sorted mate. Thanks Mart - simple fix are often the best? Meanwhile, in other activities - gave the carpets an out-of-car deep clean. Has been on the list of things to do for a while, but needed a good run of warm weather to properly dry the carpet as the foam is mo...

Re: Heater box removal

Assuming you're RHD and you've removed the dash? Yep it's possible to disconnect the A/C lines at the expansion valve - but as Dan mentioned it's possible but awkward with restricted space. If you're going to remove the box with the A/C lines attached you'll need to move a fair bit of stuff to acces...

Also fixed the recurring cooling check control panel light. Had nothing to do with the sensor or the panel. Engine bay decals - any experience with Zen Graphics

Fellow Zoners,

I know that Pukar has been a trusted supplier for E30 stickers / decals in the past.
But recently have had reports of long lead-times & poor communication.

Has anyone here used Zen Graphics?

I'd also suggest the TPS. A clean is a good start (and even a small hole for the oil to drain out) But the best thing I found was a clean/new TPS but also a TPS that was adjusted correctly when the throttle butterfly was closed. Failing that you may not be getting fuel pressure on cranking due to le...

Hi, I already have A/C installed, but retrofitted to suit R134a. Which meant swapping out the R12 hoses for barrier hoses. I have an auto & RHD so this means a bit more clearance around the pedal box. It is possible to mount be & refit the lines but it’s very very tight. If I was doing it again, I w...

IIRC, the wiki has instructions on how to bypass the ignition switch to narrow down this is indeed th...

As far as I know the dash is the same in all E30s other than being either left or right hand drive.
There are some subtle differences between early dashes and cabby dashes
Mainly around the mounting brackets at each end.
See pics & detail here

I found out the hard way.

I would have a close look at the ignition switch.
When starting - jiggle the key when in the cranking position.
And slop or wear in the switch will show up,

I had what you described
