Managed to track down some previous keepers, including the second owner who had some very fond memories of the car. So Ms Reeves budget has not changed the historic status car tax (VED) exemption age. The existing system for 40yrs tax & MOT exemption remains in place. So great news for classic car owners. Let’s hope it stays that way. I got mine through last year :D Mine was 40 the year before but I had to wait ...

Thing I would be most concerned about is what size is the existing diff. Small case diff wont last long behind an M52 Go for a medium case and as above something in the region of 3.25-3.95 depending on gear ratios.

There are some good web sites to calculate this, depending on what you need/want

I had problems with the injectors on my M54 after it was standing a while. Eventually they came round but not until a good few taps with the thick end of a screwdriver to free them up. Likely it is not as bad as it seems, the temp gauge is very sensitive to resistance. Are you using the M52 temp plug or an E30 one? If it is E30 then is it genuine? Non-genuine ones are known to be problematic.

Judging by the DVLA it seemed to changed hands in 2014 and then no MOT since 2015 mileage went back 50k around then too so. Might be stuck in a shed somewhere but if it had an engine swap and been drifting, probably broken for parts by now.

A 1985 car would normally be on an A- or B-plate; D-reg was c.1986/7. To be pedantic :D 1985 would be 'B' or 'C' but 'D' reg was indeed 86/87, either way I did think this was a late Jetronic car that has some differences to both my HC car and HennaBMs early LC car. That is why there will be differences from the early cars and some of the schematics. Some things were removed and 'simplified' in later cars
