Ok. There was a broken joint behind the speedo. Now it work ok, but on my tests I destroyed the small gear for the odometer.......   I have 2 more clusters, all with this gear broken............. One more question. Is there a way to make the speedometer work alone, out of the cluster...

Re: Speedo and Odometer Dead
Thanks for the reply. I got the cluster out and also the speedo. Everything seems ok to me. I bended a little the pins you say in case they are not connecting well. Will also spray with connection cleaner. I've also read something about dry joints. How can I check if something is wrong? Some of them...

Re: Speedo and Odometer Dead
Hi all,
I also have a similar problem. When driving speedo and odometer usually work, but sometimes they die. They may work again if I hit the cluster with my hand, or when passing a bumpy road.
Everything else in the cluster work fine.
Any help appreciated...........

I have a similar problem the last few days.
Sometimes, when at idle, the battery light on the cluster flashes. Only at idle-2000rpm and not every time.
Did you find the problem with yours?

OK.
One simple question:
Does anyone know, if the rear seats from an Ascona B could fit a 4door E30 in any way? Or with what mods?
I've found some recaro seats from an Ascona and I was wondering if I should buy the rears too.

Hi,
Anyone who has Bilstein Sprint shocks with 3.5cm lower springs (H&R or Eibach)? Could you measure the distance from the wheel center to the fender lip, front and rear?
H&R or Eibach springs are stiffer?
Thanks

The seats??????????
I want to throw them away immediately! I've found a set of Recaros and I think I'll buy them!
@ Lennerd320i
I have only rolled the fenders, but it rubs sometimes. I think my rear springs are a bit soft.

new battery
I installed a new battery on my car, 69Ah than the old 55Ah, and the starter runs faster.
Do you think there would be a problem, like overheating of the starter or something else?

Hi all,
Can I remove completely the SI board from the instrument cluster? Why is it used for, except the service lights?
Should I short-circuit any pins on the instrument board?
thanks,
George

There is a small leakage from the batteries. I replaced them with new, but the LEDs don't work. So, can I change the SI board ('84 MotoMeter cluster, 1.2V NiCd batteries) with a newer one ('90 VDO cluster, 3V Lithium batteries). What's the use of the SI board? Is it just the service LEDs? If I take ...

Sure the little board with the LEDs is there? Fairly common way for cowboys to extinguish lights is to remove the lttle sub panel with the lights. Checked it. The board is there, but the two batteries don't look in good condition and the voltmeter says 0 V. Does this affect anything? Are they easy ...

instrument cluster
The instrument cluster of my 316i (M40 engine) is the one with the big clock, instead of the rev counter, from VDO.
So, I got one with rev meter and fuel consumption metet, from MotoMeter.
Is it easy to fit it myself? Is the wiring ready for the rpm signal, or it needs an electrician?
