Re: oil pressure light slow to go out on 325

my first port of call would be to remove the switch (mounted on the sump) and give it a good clean. I removed mine when I replaced the sump gasket (pig of a job) and I was surprised how much crap was in it. HTH Hi aimlessrock. How do you go about cleaning it? Physically with a pin or carefully with...

Exhaust selection

Hi chaps, I'm looking to choose an exhaust rear silencer for my 325i touring and would like to go with the oem BMW unit but I intend to store the car for the winter months each year and don't want to allow the acidic moisture to rot it quickly due to storage. For that reason I'm considering a cheape...

Re: Front sub frame bolt sheared

Not sure if I'm understanding this right but seems similar to the following. I've had one of the bolts holding the front control arm bush holder (magnifing glass one) shear. I removed it by drilling down the centre of the bolt then using a dremmel with a cylindrical grinding stone to grind out the b...

Re: bonnet issue

Not exactly sure how to do it but I'm sure I read a thread which mentioned a catch that you can use to release the bonnet behind the grille on the right beside the lights?

Hopefully someone else will chip in and give the full details.
Cheers.

Re:

It's a 1989 325i Touring and as far as I'm aware its the original engine. Mine is the one which was stored for 7 years which yourself and others were good enough to give good advice on when I brought it out again. Other than this and a seized heater blower (which I've free'd up) it is fine. Oil/plus...

Re:

Nothing loose in the fusebox to short the terminals unfortunately. I went out tonight with the intention of checking if, when the wipers turn themselves on, a test light/meter would show that terminal 15b, F1 or F2 was shorting to earth between the fusebox and the switch causing the wipers to turn o...

Many thanks for your help.

I'll try to lift the top half off the fusebox to see if there is anything under there. I'm keen to find a cause which means not having to replace the relay as mine does have the intensive wash operation.

All the best.

Wipers won't switch off

Hi all, Has anyone come across the problem of wipers coming on of their own accord on slow setting? I've looked in the wiki and found wipers not working, or juddering but not switching on themselves. I've removed the earth from the stalk on the steering column when the problem has occurred and this ...

Re:

Hi JakeusSnakeus, feel for you. Bit of a long shot but I had similar problems in the past and took mine to a bosch specialist who couldn't find the problem until his shirt cuff caught on the afm top cover and it lifted off....it had been bodged previously as this shouldn't come off. Changed the afm ...

You might be able to get some from consumabulbs.com. Their prices are usually alright.

Re:

Thanks chaps, I'll heed the advice and only leave the belt on to turn it over (hopefully) by hand and then fit a new kit before turning it on the starter, or starting it. Thereafter new fluids and coolant.

Hi chaps, thanks for the replies. Minesapint, very comprehensive, I'll definetly follow your example and go steady to ease everything in. I'm in no hurry. When it was put away it had a new timing belt kit and water pump, new radiator and coolant change and oil and filter change. I also filled the ta...

325i out to play after 7 years storage.

Hi folks. I'm new to the e30 zone but have had a few BMWs in the past. I'm looking to bring a 325i touring back out to play after an embarrassing 7 years storage. Has anyone else done this and can advise me as to what to look out for? What oil to put into the plug holes to soak the pistons prior to ...
