I've just had my 325 Sport tested, see other thread it failed :-( I pointed out about the LSD and he still used rollers, said it was OK, and this is a former BMW mechanic. It is a new test centre perhaps it depends on the type of rollers? Hope nothing's broken, although at the moment that would be t...

Shouldn't have tempted fate, rust is worse than thought, another~Ԛ£80 worse. It's along the bulkhead behind the brake servo. Saw the old rear shock bushes, the bush had seperated from the rubber! Just had my E reg 325 MOT'ed, failed on rust in front inner wing, rusty brake pipe (the long one fr...

Just had my E reg 325 MOT'ed, failed on rust in front inner wing, rusty brake pipe (the long one from the ABS unit to the back, how come only one goes bad?), and top rear shock areas. The tester was pretty good, allowed me to have a look under the car, and watch him. He had what looked like an offic...

Fired it up yesterday and the gauges worked.... guess it's a dodgy connection in the instrument panel. I need to replace some bulbs anyway so I'll check over the connections then.

couple of (simple hopefully) problems...

Both the fuel and temp gauges aren't working, they show no fuel but the warning light isn't on and max temp even with the engine not running. Is this just, hopefully, a fuse? The tacho, service interval lights work. The fuel gauge at least has been working as last time I ran the engine the low fuel ...

I use Dick Lovett in Swindon and they're pretty good. Although the Mini sales man was a bit snotty a while back.

Don't worry I wouldn't consider towing (or driving) it in it's current state, no rack or front calipers. I've just rebuilt the calipers (new seals etc) and have a new rack to put in. Jsut been to Dick Lovett (Swindon BMW) to buy/order the last few nuts bolts etc. By rigid pole I thought people meant...

If your car's undriveable then to be towed with a tow-bar all you need is legal tyres. :thumb: I'm assuming that this is for a rigid bar, where would that connect to on the E30, I'll have a Discovery at the other end, and a nervous wife  If I need to do it, the car's only undrivable because i...

MOT?

I've got a question about tax/MOT and driving. My car is currently SORN (and undrivable), the MOT runs out at the end of the month (27th), although I hope to have it drivable before then. Although it's likely to fail, expect the worse then if it passes it'll be great. It is insured. What are the rul...

Having looked at the ETK now I understand, 6 hoses but still only 1 hose to each caliper.

Having got the ECP hoses home when you screw them into the caliper the hex part isn't flush with the caliper, are there different hoses for the different calipers?

Is SBW0012-6 the Goodridge P/N?

brake pipes?

How many flexible brakes hoses on a 325 (1987)? I've just bought new flexible front hoses from ECP for ~Ԛ£10 each, but been quoted ~Ԛ£12/each for Goodridge# hoses from Merlin Motorsport, and Ԛ£41 for a set (4 lines). I'm thinking I should take back the std hoses and buy the set..... I...

brake calipers

Just had my front brake calipers chemically cleaned, I've wire brushed them although they still aren't shiny so probably not for long enough. So what do I do next, just bang them back on, or put some caliper paint on. I'm not too bothered by looks. If I paint them do I need to prime them? Then all I...

This was the weapon of choice for removing the power steering rack was it Rog? No leaks for you now eh matey! You will probably find that the manual rack feels better (more feedback) at speed than the PAS rack. I prefer the manual rack myself. Glad u got it sorted mate and had fun doing it by the l...
