Re: Diesel in the petrol tank
The tank was empty and I put in 20 litres as it was only when I put the pump down that I realised what I had done. I did consider draining the tank from the plug but i don't have access to a lift or anything i can fit underneath. I was going to spyhone it but thought it would be easier for the fuel ...

Diesel in the petrol tank
Hi, In a rather priceless moment of stupidity last night I put diesel in my petrol 325. I didn't start the car, just pushed it out of the way and waited for the RAC to tow me home. The RAC bloke suggested I detach the fuel pipe of the fuel rail and short circuit the fuel pump relay and let the car p...

Thanks

Re: Vibration/Judder in 1st and 2nd
Hi Brian, Do the arrows have to point at the flange on the gear box or the prop? I didn't split the prop when i took it off and i didn't realise until about a month after i had refitted it that i should of slackened the centre joint and adjusted the prop to fit correctly. I have subsequently done th...

Re: Vibration/Judder in 1st and 2nd
I don't think it is the track rod ends (changed them) and it feels as if its coming from below and behind. A couple of months ago i changed the clutch and diff, while i had everything apart i changed the doughnut behind the gear box but not the prop centre bearing. Could it be this and the wear is o...

Vibration/Judder in 1st and 2nd
Hi While accelerating hard in 1st and 2nd i experience a vibration/judder through drivers seat, don't know about the others as i never sit in them. The vibration doesn't appear to be there at half throttle or in the other gears. The only thing i have done recently is have new tyres fitted to the fro...

Just an idea. Could it be the ball joint on the control arm? you'd probably feel that through the floor as the arms attach just infront of the foot wells.

Re: clunking from the front
I reckon its the track rod end. Mine got abused when i changed my suspension and now i get a clunk over bumps that feels like its coming from under the pedal. There is loads of play in mine so i'll be changing it when i can.

Re: Strange vibration
KuSt, Thanks for the reply, from what you have described the bearing you are referring to i would call the release bearing. I changed this and the bear that the end of the gear box drive shaft sits in when i replaced the clutch as this bear was my original problem. If you or anyone else have anyothe...

Re: Strange vibration
I've just driven home from work and while driving down the dual carriage i took my foot of the accelerator and between 2 and 2.5 thousands revs there was a vibration. Re: Strange vibration
I've always have the whining since i bought the car with as far as i can remember no other noticable effects. I did think that as i have replaced most off the drive train bearings and linkages which has effective tighten up the drive train that the wear in the prop bear is now apparent and that i ne...

Firstly thanks to everyone who has replied to my previous posts, you've been a great help while i was working on the car. I'm after some more advice please. After Brian's advice about my clutch i decide with the help of a friend to change the clutch. Gear box removal
Following Brians advice that my release bearing has gone, I am replacing my clutch.
I have removed the exhaust, prop and finally all the torx bolts holding the gear box on. I have a gap of about a cm wide between the gear box and engine but can't seem to separate the two!
Any ideas?
Thanks
Rich

vibration through the clutch pedal...
Hi, I have 1990 325 and a week ago I noticed there seemed to be a vibration through my clutch pedal. It was very slight and I wasn't sure if it was one of those things that has always been there or just appeared. Anyway, I'm driving home this evening and suddenly the gear box is very notchy and I ca...
