Re: Rear Subframe Movement
I don't think it's torn itself in two and off the top of my head FEBI, i will double check the other end of the bolt tomorrow but i'm nearly 100% certain it's good. I had someone else fit the bushes, so i'm not sure what was used and it was quite a while ago now, time wise not mileage! It's as if th...

Re: Rear Subframe Movement
The big bolt goes through everything and the nut is underneath the black support plate thing, everything is tight. The only issue i can make out is the beam moves up and down whilst the bush stays still, this only seams to happen when axel stands are placed on the beam, not sure if this would happen...

Re: Rear Subframe Movement
Right ok, but i shouldn't have caused any adverse affects by doing it this way and my nervous rear end is being caused by something else?
I'll do it that way from now on!

Re: Rear Subframe Movement
Maybe i was over exaggerating with an inch but there's still quite a lot of up and down movement and the rear of the car feels loose when driving spiritedly!....almost like it's not connected properly. I'll try and take some snaps of how it sits, i'm pretty sure all the movement is coming from the r...

Rear Subframe Movement
So basically my subframe moves up and down a lot, when it's jacked up and axle stands placed under the rear subframe the subframe sits roughly half inch to an inch higher than when the wheels are on the floor. Bushes are less than a 1000 miles old, I use the big subframe bolt to jack off and put sta...

Re: Heater Valve
Cheers guys, I will definitely check the cap and i have a spare valve i'm going to take apart and clean up.
With regards to the o ring inside the valve, where is it available from?
I will also remove the motor, is it a major task to clean and strip the bearings?

Heater Valve
So i snapped a stub pipe going through the firewall, i've taken all of the matrix pipes and core out just to make sure everything else is ok whilst i'm there. I've already got some new o rings for both of the pipe to core connections as preventative maintenance but i'm also noticing that the valve h...

Crankshaft Sensors
I've had a few of these engines throw crankshaft sensors in the past so i want to make sure i buy right.
Am i right in thinking that VDO or Delphi sensors are the ones to go for?
Thanks

Fan kicking on too late
Ok basically i'm on my second m52 ( first one an intake valve stuck), the cooling system worked fine and the fan kicked on at the half way point. Now i'm using another m52 which came from an e36 donor car i used for a few months and everything was working fine. Now it's in my E30 the fan will not ki...

Re: Spring Loaded Bonnet Release
Thanks for the reply, those two tension rods are what i'm referring too.
Where do the ends go because they do not seam to be producing any tension when the bonnet is closed.

Spring Loaded Bonnet Release
Okay so basically the bonnet would pop up before i removed everything and now it won't. Is it the hinge that pops it up or the latch? I can see two rods going through the hinge with hooks on the end, are these anything todo with it? Just to be clear the bonnet will open fine just not pop up like it ...

So i pulled another spreader plate from an m10b18 earlier, same P/N as m20 manual. Its definitely thinner and has made a difference. I'm now at 4.25 turns by hand until it stops, at which point it's right up against the plate. I believe the issue is fixed as the max the bolt can go in is about 6 tur...

Okay so this was niggling me so i had another look tonight. The flywheel is sitting flat and is not fowling anything. Flywheel = 10mm thick Washer Plate = 7mm thick Bolts = 28mm But there is a gap in the crankcase from where the flywheel sits to where the thread starts. http://i975.photobucket.com/a...

Re: Flywheel Plate Needed?
Okay i've gone to tighten up the flywheel and the bolts will go 3 turns before going tight, is this correct? Do you mean that the underside of the heads of the bolts are only about 5mm from the face of the 'plate' before the bolts enter the threads in the crank, and then only turn three turns befor...

Okay i've gone to tighten up the flywheel and the bolts will go 3 turns before going tight, is this correct? Using an m20 flywheel with the big washer and i've used m20 flywheel bolts. Flywheel Plate Needed?
Ok so i'm putting the m20 fly and clutch back on the car and i'm just double checking where the round plate in the middle of the first picture goes or if it's even needed? I've looked on realoem but unsure if i need to look at the e36 328i or e30 325i, there is also a large rectangular or triangular...

Okay so basically had my flywheel come loose.... i know, i know very stupid!! Clutch is being replaced just want to know if there's supposed to be oil behind the flywheel bol...

Temp Needle Going up when electrical things turned on
So this only happens when the engine is running, if for example i turn the radio on or the headlights the temperature needle will jump up slightly. If i then turn the engine off and do the same thing the gauge does not move. Another point to note is my starter seams slightly weak when the car is hot...

Re Routing Front sunroof drains
Ok so after doing rust repairs i'm just wondering has anyone rerouted the front drains so that they don't drain into the sills and then out. Ok so i was having a few problems getting my engine to run correctly, it turned out one of my lambda's was faulty. Re: diff question.
z3 Torsen Lsd if you can find it, then swap out the output flanges for the e30 medium case ones.
I think mine is a 3.25 or 3.15 and it's perfect with the e36 328i zf box.
Otherwise just keep the m20 box if it's good and use the existing LSD.
