As you say i would do a search because there are plenty of threads on here from people who have had similar problems. I have had a few minor running and idling problems with my 325i but nothing like as bad as yours sounds. Mine was due to a faulty blue coolant temperature sensor and a bad connection...

Also goes to show the value of professional testing equiptment, you can spend ages trying to chase a fault (as i have done) when the repair can be a relatively simple thing! Matt I agree with that! The garage found out the fault code within a few minutes whereas i have spent quite a bit longer tryi...

Just thought i would update you on my car (1988 325i) which now seems to be fixed although i have only driven 2 miles so further testing will be needed..... After numerous attempts myself at fixing the poor idle and intermittent fluctuating revs myself i took it to a Fuel Injection & Carburettor spe...

I agree. May not be worth restoring. You could break it up and sell the parts when it does 'die'. May be worth going to look at a few other E30's if you want to keep the same type of car and you can then see what else you can get for your money. I should think there are plenty of good cars around wi...

Good independent BMW garage near Leicester?
Hi, As the title really. I need to take my car to someone who knows about E30 325i to sort out poor running. I don't want to waste a lot of labour time at a non-BMW place who don't really know what they are doing. Alternatively, if any E30zoners nr Leicester had some time to have a quick drive in th...

Signal from the blue (and brown) temp senders goes through a round multipin plug and socket fixed to the metalwork below the inlet manifold. Check the condition of this connector carefully. Also, don't assume that a new part is a good part. Sorry, just thought.... when i take my plugs out and if on...

Thanks for the advice Brian. I will check again for any air leaks. When i removed the idle control valve to clean it i had a look inside. All it seemed to do was make a buzzing noise when connected. There didn't seem to be much moving around in there. How can you check that it is working properly? T...

Hi, Just swapped the above on my 1988 325i touring. The idle is now worse. It will stay at 1200 or so in traffic when warm and not want to drop back down to 800rpm where it normally sits. It also seems to be running hotter. I have since tried to bleed any air out of the thermostat using the little n...

Engine doesn't like it cold
I have a 325i touring. I have a lumpy idle and the engine doesn't like it when cold or pulling away in traffic. When you depress the accelerator it wants to cut out and therefore makes the car bunny hop a bit. It will idle with no load on it though but a bit lumpily. The problem gets a bit better wh...

I put 40 quid in it, drove at moderate speeds, am now down to below half a tank and have only done 132 miles? surely this can't be right?? My 323i was better than this? Any ideas what it might be, the air filter is clean! Are you sure your fule guage is accurate? I would use all the tank then calcu...

BMW T.I.S. manual
Hi, Just paid Ԛ£4.99 on ebay for a 2005 BMW TIS manual, 'As the dealers use' apparently. Well, i have never seen such a load of rubbish. I feel like i've been robbed. I have just spent a good couple of hours trying to work out how to use it and i have so far managed to find nothing more useful ...

Glovebox needs a thump to shut.
I know this may be obvious to you regulars but can anyone tell me what is the likely cause of the above problem? I am really having to give the f****** thing a smack now to shut it and i am worried that i wil break it once and for all if i don't fix it soon.
Cheers

Gearbox reluctant now oil changed.
Hi, I changed the oil in my 1988 325i at the weekend for 80W 90. Drained the old oil out and it was a bit dirty. The shift is now worse than ever, especially when it is cold. Does anyone know why?

Sorry! Just did a search and found a post from last year that answers all my questions. My white valve gave me exactly the same problem. I removed the valve and put a normal T-Piece in and all is fine now I have this problem with the white valve spewing water out of a little hole in the side. Thanks for the replies. They have confirmed what i was thinking myself. If i am going to replace the car just for safety reasons then it has to be with a nearly new one that has a good NCAP rating. I don't want to do this due to the money and the fact that every journey in the BMW is an occasion. I ...

325i touring suitable for baby?
A bit of a strange request this but wondered if anyone can help? We are having a baby soon and my missus reckons the car will have to go for a safer alternative.
